Shine Through

Monday morning
13 May 2024

This morning was cool.

I was in the family room reading Scripture from a Bible app devotional I had been invited to participate in.  We're reading about how we can be discerning in this digital age....how technology is good in many ways...but can be so very distracting in other ways. How our true source of wisdom and guidance should be coming from our heavenly Father.  How He guides us when we have decisions to make.

I looked up and out through the family room deck doors and saw the sun shining through.......

and thought,  " the Light shines through and chases away the shadows of our souls". We all have those shadows...those dark areas we don't want to expose  to others. But God sees them. Whether it's guilt, shame, bitterness, anger, trauma and the after effects, loss, abandonment issues, divorce, homelessness, mental illness, depression, or a physical disease, or a financial burden or a relational woe....all of these things can weigh us down and make us "feel" like we're living in the shadows.

Yet God shines through when we press in to Him. We can choose to continue to run the race set before us and come into the Light...or we can choose to wallow and be in self-pity or stuck in our situations (in our mindset about them) and be swallowed up by the shadows.

If we think of our trials...the things that cause shadows in our souls....as gifts.....we can persevere much more easily, I think. When we think about our trials, we can ask for God's strength to get through them. We can ask for His patience. It can further develop our faith and trust in Him.

Let His faithfulness shine through!!

Give him the trials and heartache......and shine on........
