It's been an interesting week and somewhat mundane all at the same time!
I'm here today to share five of my fave blessings from the past week. To join in, just head over to Susanne's site where you can read all about how to participate as well as read what other people are thankful for.
- PRETTY IN PINK: This past week the cherry trees were in full bloom as well as the pink tulips in the front yard. I just loved the prettiness of the pink. I'm thankful for spring color.
- GREEN GRASS: There is just something about the grass in Spring that I love. It's a lush green and I snapped these pics just after Dave did the mowing on Saturday. The scent, the sight......all things I love about Spring. Supposedly I'm allergic to "grasses" according to testing, yet for some reason I never have allergy symptoms from sitting in my backyard. I like how the lawn looks in sunshine and in the spring rains...so bright! I'm thankful for the Spring green. I'm also thankful Dave takes care of our lawn.

- BRUNCH: Monday morning was brunch time with my spiritual mentor M. She and I pray for specific things together and since I didn't get her permission to share much about our time, I won't go into it. She's 6 years older than me, extremely wise and a true prayer warrior. Her son and my oldest were friends when they were preschoolers. I'm so thankful we have kept up this friendship and that we get together every few months. I'm praying for something specific in her life/family and she is praying something specific for me. I'm also thankful for texting and emails so we can keep in touch weekly!

- SOLO KAYAKING: Tuesday was a perfect day. I decided to head up to the state park where our kayaks have a spot on the racks for the Spring-midNovember season, and I was surprised to see as many people on the beach as I did. There were young moms there with toddlers and preschoolers, grandmothers with little ones, and many kayakers and fishermen. I enjoyed a nice quiet paddle all around the lake but for the first time ever I didn't see any geese or mallard ducks. I always see them in the spring.....but I did see lots of fish! I even saw what I thought was an eagle until it swooped down and I realized it was a red hawk. Someone asked me if I was scared to go alone (you may have seen this on the national news: a kidnapping of a 9 year old girl happened last Sept here and the perp is now in jail....a local pedophile who is serving many years for multiple felonies/crimes. I'm not afraid. I always leave my itinerary with my husband or a daughter and there's always people around. The rangers check the beach area often as well as the campground and hiking trails so....we can't live in fear.....we just need to be wise. Plus I pray OFTEN to stay safe. I'm thankful for being able to kayak in a state park that isn't too far from home.
- Mid-Week Movie Night: Wednesday evening, Dave was craving ice cream. We had just had a dinner of BLT's with roasted broccoli and cauliflower and fruit (melon and strawberries). I used turkey bacon as I don't eat pork and dinner was very satisfying...I had tomatoes to use up so had the idea of a casual meal. Well, when he returned with his ice cream, I was browsing on Netflix and saw this movie with one of our fave actresses. I fell in love with her acting from the time she was a little girl on ET way back in the 1980s. We decided to have a movie night. What a fun, family friendly movie. There are a couple of raunchy parts but they're quickly glossed over. I probably wouldn't let a child younger than 12 watch it but it was a good look at single parenthood and coming together with blended families. It was light and fun and I'm thankful had a relaxing evening to laugh together.
Of course there were other blessings, too: a good chiropratic appointment that brought some relief to my neck and head pain; walks in the neighborhood in the evenings with my husband, walks with my SoulSteps group last weekend and running into an old friend at our town park where we walked together and got caught up. I love those spontaneous meet-ups!
I hope you have a restful, enjoyable weekend doing the things you love.

I love pink flowers the most. Those are so pretty.
I've not been tested, but I know I am allergic to freshly cut grass. When my youngest lived at home and cut the grass, he'd stop to talk to me when he came in, and I was instantly sneezy from the grass on his shoes and clothes. But otherwise it doesn't seem to other me when we eat on the patio. But I do like the yard much better green than brown.
Glad you had some nice outings, alone and with others. We've enjoyed some good movies, lately, too. I have not seen that one.
Your dinner and movie night sound like fun. Stay-at-home dates are the best.
The pink flowers are so lovely. We, well Dan;), mowed for the first time this week, too. It smells soooo good!
Happy Mother's Day, Faith!
Hi Faith. Your movie night and indoor picnic sounds like fun. I will have to look for that movie. I remember how cute Drew Barrymore was in ET. She really reminded me of my older daughter Amber who was about the same age as Drew when the movie came out. The pink flowers are beautiful. So glad you could go Kayaking. I know you enjoy that! Have a great weekend and a very nice Mother's Day!
Hi Faith, sounds like you had a great week! It seems that the days and weeks just fly by now that I am retired. I always wanted to try a kayak. Not sure I will be able since I injured my shoulder a year ago and have not recovered that rotating movement I would need to do so. I like the smell of fresh cut grass. I enjoy sitting in my backyard and hearing the birds sing. I sure wish there were no mosquitos! Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!
What gorgeous pink flowers! I have to say pink is my favorite color when it comes to flowers. I'm so glad you have a dear friend that prays for you and vise versa - that's so special. Glad you had a mid-week movie night. So fun! And it looks loke a really cute movie. Hope you have a very Happy Mother's Day tomorrow!
I love all the colors of spring from yellow to purple. And green grass just shines, doesn't it?
Love all your walks and your kayaking. I am not afraid to be out in nature alone either. Just be careful and wise. Often if The Prof is gone, I will walk the neighborhood alone.
Happy Mother's Day!
Sorry I didn't comment on this last week. The busy Mother's Day weekend and then tooth pain robbing any motivation for anything kept me off blogs. The pink flowers are gorgeous.
