Wednesday HodgePodge

It's Wednesday, and Joyce from this blog, is our host for the HodgePodge meme. I liked this week's questions.

1. What area of your life feels like you're stuck in a Groundhog's Day loop, doing the same thing over and over? Does it bother you or is that just how life is in this particular season?

hm...now that I'm retired from full time teaching special ed preK I don't feel like anything is really on a "loop". Each day has its routines though. The only thing on a loop are my thoughts about when is this insanity in this country/with this current "leader" going to end??

2. Something that makes your heart skip a beat?

When I just get over the crest of a mountain summit after a good climb and see the open rock/bare sky/the smaller mountains below.

 3. Do you wear your heart on your sleeve or are you more of a closed book? Elaborate

It depends on who I'm with. I don't openly share deep things but with my trusted friends and husband or daughters I do.

4. According to Prevention Magazine, these are 25 of the best foods for heart health-

wild salmon, sardines, liver, walnuts, almonds, chia seeds, oatmeal, blueberries, coffee, red wine, green tea, soy milk, dark chocolate, raisins, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, whole grains, apples, oranges, grapefruit, avocado, avocado oil, olive oil

Which five do you include in your diet most often? Are there any foods on the list you simply cannot abide?

The five things from the above list I eat the most often are:  walnuts (almost daily), steel cut oats as oatmeal (almost daily)blueberries (daily), dark chocolate (4-6x a week), coffee (3 mugs a day).   But I also eat 5-6x  a week: chia seeds, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, apples, oranges, avocado, olive oil.  I drink red wine ocassionaly and I sometimes eat grapefruit. I eat salmon once a week.  I do NOT eat sardines or liver, soy milk or raisins and brussel sprouts.  I often cook with avocado oil. As for green tea: I only like it iced in the summer months.

5. What was the last piece of furniture you bought? Is there a piece of furniture you need/want to purchase this year?

I bought a brand new chaise style couch for hte living room last February.  The piece of furniture I would next like to buy is actually a wooden Adirondack chair for my husband to match the one he bought me for our backyard bonfire pit area.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

There's nothing like a brand new tea kettle!!

Happy Wednesday, everyone!
