Oh wow. I just finished reading through a very good book on Christian marriage/submission.
I cannot believe I am reading a non-fiction book about submission. Me. The independent, strong-willed, "teacher personality" sometimes "control freak" me. And it is really making me think!
Yes, I know all about submission and have heard sermons on it ad nauseum. In fact, it was our current church that really taught me WELL about what real Biblical submission is in a marriage a couple of years ago when the pastor did a marriage sermon series. And it was NOT what I thought nor had been taught in previous churches.
However, I never would have chosen this book to read if it wasn't for the title: "Dancing with the One You Love".
There are sections geared for women in an unequally yoked marriage (meaning the husband is not a Believer) and how to be submissive in that situation. There's a section about being submissive with a chronically ill husband.
And there is an amazing section about cultural battles we all face. The thoughts on abuse and authority is very good.....the whole book is just so well written that I am highly recommending it! I think many women who have some kind of abuse in their childhood/background, can really benefit from the truths presented in this book and I also like the last section that talks about Ruth Graham and the Proverbs 31 woman. There is a fantastic "question and answer" section for all of our submission/marriage questions and I really liked the section titled "Man to Man". There are even some very good thoughts about physical intimacy. It is just a very good, easy to read, and short little book! Didn't take me long at all to finish once I sat still long enough to actually read! (thanks to a couple of snow days!!)
And.....Since it was a gift from another blogging buddy, E-Mom, from the amazing Chrysalis blog, one of the best Christian blogs I've ever had the pleasure to read (she provides all kind of marriage, parenting, and Biblically based wisdom for Christian women and is the monthly host of Marriage Monday which many of us belong to and write for), then I am going to pass it on to someone else to enjoy!! You don't have to be married to enjoy this book....it is perfect for an engaged woman or a single woman who is waiting on the Lord for her future husband.
So....if you wanna participate in my giveaway....simply leave me a comment....the book is free! My daughter will randomly select a number....we are also posting this to Facebook so.....let me know if you want to be entered in the drawing! It is a book worth passing on.....
drawing will be on Sunday, 30 January

Faith, That DOES sound like a tremendous book! I think MANY women struggle with submission and have oodles of incorrect or twisted notions about it! God bless you for wanting to share!

Hi Faith,
It sounds like a great book. Please enter me!
Came by from A Planting of the Lord. Submission is a word I've heard a few times lately. I don't think I like it. :) Count me in for the give away. Thanks!
I notice that young people are living together, have children built a house, but are not married. Apparently marriage is not "in" anymore. My son and "DIL" don't want to marry either, although they have a little son. I really don't know what that changes !
Marriage is a sacred covenant...and a commitment...THAT is the difference between living together and being married....
Hi Faith! I've heard of the book and wanted to read it. Thanks for the giveaway! BTW, I've been back blogging and lurking a bit, just haven't had much time to comment. Glad to see you again here!
Sounds like a good book-

count me in I would love to read it. Have a great day!!!
Hi Faith,
I'm so pleased that you enjoyed this book. :~D It's such a nice idea to pass it on so others can benefit...
When I read it, I was especially blown away by the stories of women who were strong "go-getters" (like Janet Parshall) but still biblically submissive to their husbands. And the one with the chronically ill husband--just amazing!
Thanks for the shout out... you're a true kindred methinks.

I don't like thinking about the word "submission" either, but I know it is God's way. So enter me in the drawing, please! :)
