Psalm 51

After re-reading Psalm 51 this a.m. I decided to post some of it, the verses that really speak to me personally and that I want to share with a new friend of mine who is struggling with an issue. This life is not easy.....we go through struggles sometimes as consequences of sin or more often, to help us grow our faith and character. It is how we choose to respond to these struggles or trials that show others how we view God as Lord and the ultimate One in control. Sometimes our "spirit" needs to be broken before we choose this. And sometimes we turn immediately to the One who can cast it off if we are willing to lay it at the foot of the Cross.

"Create in me a clean heart, Oh God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your Presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you.
Save me from bloodguilt, O God, the God who saves me,
and my tongue will sing of your Righteousness........
the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart, Oh God, you will not despise."
