Hope

I am in Hebrews 6: 19 &20 today. I love these verses. They state: "this hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek."
Sometimes I have fears or doubts. Do you? I have learned where my hope lies however. This is a process, I believe, as we walk the path of life. I know that after hearing about tragedies such as the high school shootings, the terrorist attacks on our country, murder in our cities, handicapped children being born, etc. etc. I often wonder "why does God allow such things to happen?" Well, the Evil one is rampant in our world. Jesus never promised us everything in life would be easy. He was very "up front" about this! He said we would have troubles. But...God is already victorious over our life. The cross is where the victory is! God wins! We will have times of testing, of tough issues to deal with, and of difficulties either physically, emotionally or spiritually. But with Jesus we have an anchor for our soul. Anchors ground us. When we are at our beach house, we have to put the anchor in the water to keep the boat grounded so it doesn't drift out to the deeper waters. Jesus is like that! He keeps us grounded; and if we drift into "deep waters" He can pull us back. With Jesus we always have hope. Who or what are you placing your hope in today?

Hello Faith,
I will send you the devotional from Nancy Leigh DeMoss for today. She is just starting a series on Habakkuk. In it she is bringing out the same questions of why God allows things. I think you find it a good devotional...
Blessings,
Karen

Hi Karen: Thanks! I will look at it tomorrow when I have a bit more time. I am in Habakkuk soon; I have been reading through the minor prophets this summer as well as finishing up the prayer study book. Thanks for sending me the link!
