- +The Pine Tree Parable by Liz Curtis Higgs
- The Nutcracker (based on the classic story by E.T.A. Hoffman) (includes a cd!)
- Snowmen at Christmas by Caralyn Buehner (a fun read for xmas eve!)
- +The Crippled Lamb by Max Lucado (we like this on xmas eve, followed by some Scriptures)
- Christmas at the Top of the World by Tim Coffey
Those are just a few books that are in our family room reading basket. We have more in our living room basket as well although they tend to be for adults or older children. Books like The Christmas Shoes, The Traditions of Christmas, Christmas Ideals, Sitting by my Laughing Fire (not specifically xmas but we like to read the poems this time of year), A Christmas Carol (by Charles Dickens of course!)
So, around our house this weekend, we plan on getting some laundry done, some cleaning before the grandparents arrive on Monday, and some last minute baking done, as well as Claire's party at BumbleBeads this afternoon!
...but...our favorite thing will be to curl up with a good book and just read...and that is what we will be doing tonite and tomorrow nite! Happy Reading!

I love Max Lucado's children stories but have never read this one.
I am an avid fan of Max Lucado (for children, as well as adults). this story, no matter how many times I read it, always makes me tearful at the power of the true meaning of Christmas.
"Small One" by Alex Walsh and Jesse Clay is another book that I read to the girls every Christmas. I always get choked up with the power of love in that story as well.
There was a wonderful cartoon when I was a child about a donkey with ears that were too long and he was always tripping on them. He was also witness to the birth of Jesus. I wish I knew the name of that cartoon...
