Introit

The word "introit" is Latin for introduction. It is also the name of the first song on Michelle Tumes cd. I love the lyrics and the music. Michelle Tumes wrote both. I thought of it while heading out to work this morning. The sun was shining through the bare branches of the maple and beech trees on the country road I have to drive on to get to the main road en route to the school. The way the light was playing through the branches reminded me of Jesus' light...a refining fire...for our dark days. I popped the cd in and sang along....a nice way to start the day!

Introit

There's an angel resting on my shadow
There's a haven in every hope I breathe
There's an ancient cross beyond tomorrow
There's a fragrant hymn that's beckoning

He's the fire in the winter
He's the light that shines on shades of grey
like the rays across the ocean
the jewel of all my days

There's a table laid for all who hunger
There's a feast for every soul in need
There's a sacred place for all who wander
There's a Savior in the barren land of thieves

He's the fire in the winter
He's the light that shines on shades of grey
Like the rays across the ocean
The jewel of all my days

I will ever sing, sonnets rendering
The very heart of me to heaven
I see blessings in even travesty

Hi, I don't think I've ever visited your blog before but came across it today and thought I'd check out some of your posts.
I grew up knowing the true story of St Nickolas. It's a shame how it has become distorted and in many families takes over the whole theme of the season. Like you, I don't confront people who let their children believe santa claus is all-knowing, and brings the gifts. But I will tell them truthfully if asked. The whole concept steals the focus from the celebration of the birth of our Savior, and there is enough commercialism already to do a good job of that.

Hello! Thanks for visiting! Amen to the above statements about the commercialism, etc. Celebrating St. Nicholas day is one of my daughters' favorite traditions....come back and visit again!

This is a wonderful song. I love the imagery. Winter has it's own special beauty, doesn't it? :~D
