I'm going to do something a little different today from what I normally post here. I usually list ways that the Lord has filled up my "thanks tank" and I generally list about 5-6 things I am thankful for that week. Today I am just listing 1! I am most thankful this week for the sovereignty of God. For the last couple of weeks, during my early a.m. devotional time, I have been reading various Scriptures on God's sovereignty. I use my Women of Faith devotional Bible and in the front of it there are various categories/topics of study to follow. I chose Sovereignty as we were also going through a section of Romans 12 at church and there were many verses in there about the topic I chose. (which just amazes me how the Lord uses our devotional time to coincide with what our pastor is also teaching/preaching....it is so amazing to me and made me wonder what the Lord wanted to show me specifically!).
Here is a portion of the Scripture I read this a.m. Today's devotional was from Ephesians 1: 3-6 (New Kings James version). The verses that really stood out for me was 3-4:
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him
before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without
blame before Him in love."
We were chosen before the world was even formed! We were destined to be children of God, the Father! This is the sovereignty of God! It is such a mystery really, to try to understand this kind of unconditional love that our Father has for us. My mind...my human, earthly mind, cannot grasp just how much He loves me! God gets pleasure from thinking of us! This is something to be thankful for. His grace is something to be thankful for. And another part of Scripture that goes along with this one is from Revelation 1: 5-6 which states:
"To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father,
to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever."
before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without
blame before Him in love."

Jesus sacrificed his life for us! I don't know if I can honestly say I would sacrifice my own life for any one else's. Maybe for my daughters. But....really...this is mind-boggling when you really think about it. He died so we could be cleansed from our sins! And He was without sin! Yet, He died for us. How should we respond to this love? We should strive to live a life of holiness and in service to our Lord. We are royal heirs if we have made Him our Lord and Savior. He is sovereign! He reigns over all and someday we will bow at His feet.
What about you? What are you thankful for today? What part of your Christian walk/life are you most thankful for this week?

Hi Faith! Yes, I'm back and trying to get more regular about posting, but it's hit or miss. It's good to see you and I'm glad you're learning so much in your time with the Lord. I wish I could say I'm getting my morning prayers in but last week when I tried a couple of times I dozed off. That's what happens when you're up with little ones through the night! :)
I'm most thankful for His awesome mercy...my heart strays so quickly...
My list is up and one of the things I was most thankful for was the grace of God. I don't know how I could live without it every single day.
You won't believe this but I have the Women of Faith bible too! Another thing in common.
HI Susanne: thanks for visiting...I love my Women of Faith Bible. We do have alot in common...have a blessed weekend!
