Well, 7 years later, he is still working on it. It really is almost done. The top swings down and the house opens up in the middle, for play. That part (how it opens up, is hard to describe). It has a living room, kitchen, fireplaces, 2 bedrooms, a dining room, a bath, staircase with runner, and an attic, plus the porch. My mother in law even made little curtains for most of the windows and a rug for the master bedroom. She has all the furniture tucked away in 3 bins. She received Victorian-style furniture and a family of 4, for just about every holiday/birthday since he began the project in 2000. I want it done! She will be 15 in July. My goal for this project is May 1st. I want it done because she is still interested in decorating it and getting it set up in her bedroom. My fear is that once she turns another year older, she will no longer be interested in even setting it up!
So.....
- I am thankful today that my husband loves his little girl so much that he would start this project (no pattern, ...it is made entirely from scratch!) The windows cost a small fortune and that is another thing I am thankful for: a husband who doesn't mind spending a little money on something so.....priceless!
- I'm also thankful for Courtney for being so patient while this house is being built! She used to get out the furniture and set it up during the times Dave was not working on it...now she just keeps it in the bins until the blessed day arrives...but...she has a lot more patience than I would have had at the same age!
- I'm thankful that her little sister has no desire for a dollhouse like this! She has expressed a desire for one of those kits from ACMoore...she wants the georgian style one...but...she also hasn't talked about it in awhile and for that....I am thankful! :)
- I'm thankful for a nice warm house today too. NYS capital region is experiencing very unseasonable temps. We are only in the low teens today. Last night was downright frigid. We are anxious for spring but are thankful for heat and warm clothes, food and housing!
What are you thankful for today??

Oh..I love that pretty pink dollhouse! I had one when I was little...not handmade though...and I absolutely loved it. It was just one of those things that I played with for hours upon hours. I've always had a big imagination.
We have been sooooo cold down in here Northeast, TN too. It is 30 degrees right now, but last night it was in the low teens. BRRRRRR!!!
I too am thankful for my nice, cozy, warm house!!
Did you watch AI last night?? That's a crazy question! I know you did. Blake was in bed...so Michael, Jarrett and I all climbed into our bed with some popcorn and watched it nice and warm under the covers.
This is when my interest is at it's highest with AI. When they get down to the top 24..and after.
LOVE IT!!
That house is a work of art, and a thing of beauty. I hope it ends up in a museum some day. (Can I come over and play?)
I am thankful for bright sunshine, longer daylight hours, and my sweet cat, who curls up on my lap while I'm typing.
It's the simple things in life...
Blessings!
