Spring has Sprung....for Real this Time!
Here is what I saw the last 2 days after pulling into my driveway around 11:30 a.m. after work. The robin is always an indicator to me that spring has truly sprung here in the Capital Region of NYS....and...today it reached 51 degrees here in North C------! Yeah!! The sun is warm and the smell of spring is in the air. You know....that early mud smell, the damp leaves of autumn still left to rake up smell....
And this is what my youngest daughter and I saw poking up through the mud around one of our cherry trees in the front yard. We pulled into the driveway after her physical this afternoon and decided to see if we could see any new growth. Of course I always have to turn this into a spiritual lesson as well! (Claire just groans but she does like to talk about new life (she wants to find a robin's nest this year) and New Life (she reminded me she will be 3 years old in the Lord this summer, so.....!) She also spied more green shoots bursting up through the old cedar mulch around the other cherry tree and the front flower bed. Yikes....with spring comes cleaning out the old mulch and putting down the new...and before that can happen I need to trim back old brown stalks of the iris, peonies and rosebushes. But....for now...around our house...we will continue to pray for warmer temps, days of sunshine and our yellow and purple crocuses to escape the bunny's teeth!Do you have signs of spring where you live?

We are really trying to have spring in Indiana, but it was 33* this morning.
My granddaughter Ashlee and I cut pussywillows for the house. That is sign of spring here in Alaska. Although, our pussy willows were seen in December! ha
But now they are big and fluffy kitties feet!
