Here are the final pictures from the production of "AmeriKids" that the Grace Fellowship Church HizKidz Praise! ministry Music Camp put on for about 500 people on Friday evening, July 25th. The pictures shown here are from the Friday afternoon rehearsal.
The whole point of the musical was about how our nation needs to return to the tenets founded by our forefathers...those great men at the birth of our nation.
It is also about how, although we celebrate great freedoms in this land, our true freedom comes from only one source Who was bought with a price: Jesus Christ.
Songs that were very moving and powerful and spoke a gospel message were the ones the choir sang that included:
"Build on the Word", "2 Chronicles 7: 14",
"Bought With a Price", and "In God We Trust."

"Yacky Doodle" hip hop dance.
Claire (my daughter) is 2nd from right, front row.
This was a popular dance and song with the kids!

"Yacky Doodle"
(real name: Mikey)
He brought the house down!
The song that goes with his character is the
hip hop dance, "Yacky Doodle"
seen in the previous posts.

The little ones from Music Camp were in this scene.
They were the "builders".
The choir sang "Build on the Word"
(about our nation needing to be built
on the Word of God as well as our own lives)

"Benjamin Franklin"
(real name: Lucas)
(real name: Lucas)

"Abe Lincoln"
(real name: Erynn)
This character recited quotes from Abe
about trust in God, freedom, etc.
Very powerful speech.
After the different characters spoke, the song
"In God We Trust" was sung by the choir and a soloist.
It, too, was a very powerful and moving song.

The "Armed Forces Medley" scene.
This was so powerful,
we had people wiping tears
on the nite of the performance.
The choir sang bits of each song that represents each armed force.
("Anchors Away" for Navy, etc.)
From left to right: Marine (Evan), Air Force (Matt),
Navy (Kique), Army (Adam)
During the actual performance, one of the announcers told the audience that as the armed force representative appeared on stage, if there was an audience member who served in that particular force, they should stand to be recognized. It was overwhelming and very powerful. The entire congregation/audience broke out into wild applause. The hand motions that the choir did were also matched perfectly with each song from the medley.

Here they are: the HizKidz Praise! Music Camp children!
The woman in the center with her arms raised is Candace W----- the HizKidz Praise! director.
The woman on her right (Diane) is the cue director.
The 2 women on the ends are the hand motion directors (MaryJane and Jen).

The opening of the scene "American Kid".
Some of the teen volunteers played "air guitar"
while the choir sang and the video played.

The little ones in the front row were part of the class
I helped to teach during Music Camp week.
This scene was "American Kid"
that we took from a UTube video of the group "Go Fish", Christian singers.
Here the choir is reciting the Pledge of Allegiance
which is part of the song.
This was a very powerful scene.

This dance, AmeriKids Reprise,
was wildly applauded by the audience.
My youngest daughter, Claire, is here in the center
Other dancers shown left to right:
Adelaide (a young music camp member), Fei-Fei (a HizKidz member),
Claire (HizKidz member), and Chantel (HizKidz member).
(Chantel and Claire go to the same school; Chantel is 2 years older)

This is the very last scene!
AmeriKids Reprise dancers.
My daughter, Claire, is the one in the center.
(they looked better that nite at the actual performance as then
all their hands were in the proper positions)
So....you have now seen some glimpses into the production of AmeriKids that the HizKidz Praise! ministry Music Camp of Grace Fellowship performed.
We pray that seeds were planted for the gospel to take root.

Whoohoo! What a production. I feel like I was right there with you! Go Claire!
Grace Fellowship sounds like an awesome church. Our daughter and SIL just moved to the DC area. Where exactly are you? (splash[dot]graphics[at]yahoo[dot]com). They're church-shopping right now. Maybe they could visit your church. :~D
I agree, I think that it is just wonderful when churches reach out to children in their own community and get them involved in these productions, the ones in the church are already being fed and have so much offered to them but opening this up to the kids in the community to participate in was a wonderful idea. Many can get to know Jesus by interacting with the staff and other children. Oh, found your blog through another blog, so many out there that are just so wonderful!
