Haven't done this in a couple of weeks.

Sometimes it's hard to be thankful when it's been a hectic week with household mishaps (a non-working toilet which hopefully won't need a plumber) or a frustrated 5 year old from the class who is more like a "terrible two", with a teen daughter whose acne prescription meds just are not working and so off to another dr appt we must go....you know.....the stuff that makes up our daily lives. The messes. The busy-ness.
but....
We need to be thankful in all things so....here's my list for the week:
  • the Love of God. No matter how I am feeling, or when I sin (yell at my kids), or am grumpy with my husband (why can't you just fix the darn toilet??) or frustrated at teaching a 5 year old his name for one solid week and he still doesn't get it, the Heavenly Father loves me. In all my moods. Unconditional love. Thank you God for loving me.
  • the Peace that comes when I pray. I've had to pray alot this week. For specific feelings. For specific worries. For specific people. In prayer, comes peace. A knowing that God is in control no matter what.
  • for sweet potato casserole. This perked everyone up at dinner tonite. We really needed it. Fattening...but...hey..sometimes ya need to just indulge!
  • for a sister who is willing to go hiking with me on Sat. (thank you Hope!) because, remember, I am a naturalist. (read Sacred Pathways) and I need to get out to the mountains to worship and be "fed".
What are you thankful for this week?

You are so right, Faith. Praising God for the good things even in the midst of a bad week is so important. Keeps our focus on him and his goodness and mercy in our lives.

It's Thanksgiving here next week so you know what I'm going to ask for...the sweet potatoe casserole recipe.

I like what you wrote in the beginning of the post. How even in the busy-ness of daily life, or the stuff that makes up our daily life to thank God through it all. Great point and reminder.

Wow......a non working toilet, UGH!
