I Lift Up My Eyes......

Moreau Lake
Southern ADKS

Yesterday was a beautiful Saturday here in the Capital Region of NYS.

In the morning, my youngest daughter had dance auditions for the current HizKidz show (Operation Christmas Child!) and when we returned home, my husband actually wanted to go kayaking with me! We thought the girls might want to come with us as we chose a lake we hadn't been to in a couple of years. A favorite place for all 4 of us. However, they both had some homework/studying to finish up and activities they wanted to accomplish. So that meant Dave and I actually had time alone! It is a blessing to have a teenager who is willing to babysit and is very good with her little sis. I told her I would pay her a little something.

So...I packed a picnic lunch, put fleece jackets in the car (when we left town it was a chilly 57 degrees). I had shorts and a sweatshirt on and kayaked with those......it was too chilly to take off the sweatshirt but the sun was warm on the water.

Looking around the lake I couldn't help but think of the following Psalm:

"I lift up my eyes to the hills---
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.......

He will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over
your coming and going

both now and forevermore."
Psalm 121: 1-2; 7-8

This particular lake used to hold some bad memories for me. From some painful times in my life. From a very long time ago. Things that only the Father God has been able to heal.

And He has!

I used to walk there and be afraid....and not think that God was watching over me.

And yesterday, while kayaking on this gorgeous lake under a cloudless blue sky, with my favorite scents from the balsam and pine trees, with a couple of mountains in the background, and the leaves just starting to turn color...all the things that make the Naturalist in me just meditate on God, I realized something:

During the times I thought that God had "dropped" me...He reminded me that when I felt like I was "dropped", He had actually "caught" me.....and carried me through. Yes, there were major trials and emotional pain....but....He carried me through it to claim victory today, years later.

My help comes from HIM!

He does watch over our lives......

are you letting Him carry you through?
If we cling to Him, He will carry us.

Glad to hear you and hubby could enjoy time together. It's neat to hear about how God has worked in your heart while at this lake. Amen, He does carry us through! :)
Have a good week at school.

Oh Amen! He truly does catch us and carry us in the hard times when we don't even realize it.

What a beautiful lake. Nature makes me very aware of God's presence, too.

Wonderful Faith! (I wish I was out there kayaking with you. Love being on the water like that.)
