Claire with Aunt Hope's Dog, Mona
My 2nd child, my youngest a.k.a. "boochie-girl" is 11 years old today.
I cannot believe how fast time really does pass.
It seems like just yesterday when the doctor told me "ok start pushing". Man was I glad to hear those words...she came quickly...just 5 hours of labor, all in the back and in the middle of the night. She was born at 4:22 in the morning of Winter Solstice Day.
She was a bright spot in our lives. The name we chose "Claire" even means "bright" like a star. And a star she is.
She has brought much laughter into our home. She and her big sis (my 16 year old Courtney) are very different yet are extremely close, emotionally.
Claire is as comfortable reading a book aloud to younger grades in her school as she is in performing solo ballet pieces on the stage.
She shines. She has accepted Jesus into her heart and she is very intent on following Him.
She has blessed Dave and I and Courtney more than we could have imagined.
I remember being a little worried when I found out I was having another baby girl.
"How can I possibly find room in my heart for loving another child? It is already full of love for Courtney."
Yet somehow, we do. We have so much love, as mothers, for all of our children. It is truly a miracle.
Claire is quite independant (she is toddler who would scream "Can do my self"....and would insist even though sometimes she really did need help! :: ).
Claire is bright, attentive, responsible and caring.
She is loving, and loves to serve others. Acts of service seems to be her primary love language and physical touch is her secondary one.
She is a dancer, singer and violinist. She loves the stage and loves being in the drama ministry for children at our church.
Most of all she loves her family, her extended family and her aunts' dogs.
She is becoming a real preteen with being choosy about her hair and clothing yet still loves to play with her American Girl dolls and Webkinz.
She is one mean tennis player and whips me bad in Wii Tennis!
She almost always gets a "hole in one" when we play miniature golf in the spring and summer.
She loves to kayak and is very good at it....she loves to swim and is good at that, too, although she hesitates at diving.
She LOVES trying new foods and has discovered that Indian, Mexican and Korean are her favorites.
And...she is a risk taker. She will basically try anything......
Most of all, she gives the best hugs.
We are so thankful for this girl!
When I had my first ultrasound, the medical staff found a cyst on one of her ovaries. To make a long story short, even after much prayer, she had to have surgery to have it removed, along with her ovary and one fallopian tube, at just 10 weeks old.
My faith and my husband's faith faltered....but.....we finally decided, close to the surgery date, that she was given to us by God and that we needed to trust Him with her. After all, we had had to trust Him just to get pregnant with her...it had taken me 3 years of "trying" and once we decided to "stop trying" so hard, we conceived her!!
And glory to God: the cyst was benign and she was fine.
She is a blessing in our lives..........
She arrived a week early because her big sister prayed every night for a couple of months, that she would have a little baby sister under the Christmas tree. She is a great joy and we are honored that God would choose us to be her family.

My dear ,
May this Christmas be filled
With happiness in all that you do
And may this joy continue
The whole year through
Wishing you a Blessed Christmas
And a Happy New Year!
God's Christmas Present
Let me tell you the story
Of the sweet Jesus Christ,
Who brought heaven to earth,
One cold winter night.
As planned by His Father,
A long time ago,
In the form of a babe,
He came down below
His divine mission
Unknown at the time,
Was later revealed,
When God felt inclined.
The day the sweet Lord
Was nailed to that cross,
Was the day that God showed,
Mankind was not lost.
By the Son's grief and pain,
Man could be forgiven,
And God gave to man,
A vision of heaven.
But thick in his thinking,
And blind in his heart,
Man missed the Lord's meaning,
And remained in the dark.
Thus, each year at Christmas,
The tale is retold,
And man is reminded,
Of Jesus Christ's role.
Access to heaven,
God's gift to man,
God's Christmas Present,
The Start of His Plan!
