Xmas Randomness!

Here are the random questions of the week that I first saw over at Susanne's but Linda is the host:

1. Which physical trait do you now accept--maybe not love, but accept--and no longer feel extremely self-conscious about?
my thin-ness. Seriously. I used to be so darn skinny!! I was even called "olive oil" by mean girls. Now I love being petite!! because those mean girls are all.....well.....MUCH bigger than me. Of course I am not as thin as I used to be cause of having 2 babies and approaching menopause (hopefully!) but....I am much more comfortable in my skin now!

2. This week Meredith Baxter Birney, best known as the mom on the favorite 80s sitcom "Family Ties" came out of the closet, which led me to formulate this question: Who do you think is/was the best TV mom?

aw man...did she really? I rarely watch the news for this kind of thing so...I'm out of it. I guess the best role model I can think of would be Claire Huxtable from The Bill Crosby Show or Ma Ingalls! lol.....yup..this dates me!
3. Do you speak any foreign languages? Are there any you'd like to learn?

I can speak French....along with my oldest and my husband. My youngest just completed her required 6 weeks of it for 5th grade curriculum....so she'll be speaking it a bit too. I would really like to learn more sign language for my job....I know MANY isolated words to help teach children how to speak English or to just learn basic vocabulary but I would love to be more fluent in signing whole sentences.
4. Who is your personal hero?
My friend CS. She was a counselor and friend. She helped me thru a very difficult time when I was about 35 years old and continues to be a good friend of mine although we rarely see each other these days. Solid Christian woman. Honest. Confident. Not afraid to be real. Nouf said.

5. What is one holiday food that you find extremely difficult to resist over- indulging in?

my chocolate orange fudge. And chocolate crinkle cookies. and Russian teacakes.
6. Tell me about a Christmas decoration that has special meaning or sentimental value.

A little Japanese girl dressed in a kimono. Given to me by the master teacher I did my graduate work under. introduced me to my husband back when we both were in grad school. Introduced me to the pastor that married us.....became a good friend while I worked on my MS degree. Is now in heaven after dying of colon cancer at age 42. We did not have enough time together but I cherish the time we did have and that ornament was the last thing she gave me.

7. How do you feel about snow?

I like it when it is freshly fallen. I want it on xmas eve until New Year's Day. Then it can go away.
8. On average, how many hours of sleep do you get each night? Not that I'm jealous of any number over three or anything.

About 6-7...sometimes a bit more, sometimes less.

9. Tell me about your first crush.

His name was Bobby H. He had no idea I existed! He was CUTE and I was in 6th grade. One time he sat next to me in Art...I thought I'd died and gone to heaven!!

10. You're stuck in a room for 2 hours with only a chalkboard and chalk. What will you write/draw?

Probably some kind of devotional or else a to do list....lol

11. Do you dress for the current temp or for the day's forecast?

usually the current temp unless it is summer...then I just wear shorts everywhere all the time......during the school year I tend to dress in layers until Dec and then I pay attention to the temps AND forecast! Hey...I live in the Northeast.....the weather changes quickly here!
12. Favorite Christmas movie is?

oh man...this is hard because there are so many good ones. I love It's a Wonderful Life...it's a tradition for us to watch as a family each and every year. I love Christmas in Connecticut wiht Judy Garland. I LOVE LOVE LOVE White Christmas and I enjoy Holiday Inn. I guess out of all those I'd have to say White Christmas because of the high caliber of music and dancing.

THANK YOU TO LINDA for this fun meme over at 2nd Cup of Coffee!!

I have to say I have never been upset over my being skinny. LOL.

Chocolate orange fudge? Oh my word, that sounds delicious!

Your precious ornament sounds lovely. I've never seen that kind for sure and it's meaning was very special.

Wanted to link your FFF post for you but I don't see it.
