Welcome to the Friday Fave Five!
It was a busy, full week of activity, housework, work, Sunday dinner company, etc. etc.
I am actually writing this late on Friday nite while my youngest settles down with 2 HKP friends for a sleepover. Earlier this evening, those 3 were joined by 3 of Claire's school friends to help her celebrate her 11th birthday, about a month late! (december was just too crazy hectic to have a party!).
My oldest daughter is at the Excel Convention, a huge youth group conference that draws teens from all over this part of NYS. My husband is experiencing his first year as a high school male chaperone. He will be in charge of 3 teen boys but he says the high schoolers are actually easier than the junior high boys he usually chaperones! As for me....I am headed to bed soon after a LONG day in the kindergarten and then rushing to my youngest daughter's school to watch the DARE graduation. (Drug Awareness Resistance Education). That, plus getting hubby and teen out the door on time, and then hosting the 6 girls has made me exhausted. Thank goodness the 3 girls in the family room are all curled up in sleeping bags watching a movie....I am betting they will be sleeping by midnite!
My teenager's made bed.
Yes it makes my fave five list.
Only because for the last several weeks she has neglected her chores.
Until this past week when all I had to say was "spending money for Paris"
and wow...her attitude began to change again...and now her home chores are getting done. Now...if I can just get her to put that pile of pillows and
stuffed animals back on...the one you can see in the left of the pic ~~sigh~~
This Vera Bradley Bag.
My in-laws bought me the small notebook (laptop) bag for xmas.
In this new pattern (Rhapsody Blue)
However, my oldest had already bought me a netbook bag so....
I exchanged the bag for this tote in the same pattern.
It has come in handy this week for going from work, to home, to rehearsals, to ballet, etc.
AND....even with my wallet, daytimer, checkbook, make up, etc etc., the netbook STILL fits into this tote!
I love it!!
This moisturizing cream from Clinique.
I use Clinique foundation and love it but needed something for the winter dryness.
This cream is perfect for year round AND corrects imperfections.
It is even fading some acne scars I have from my late teen years.
The best thing about it is that it also has an SPF of 20.
You only need a small amount once (or twice) a day.
So even though it is pricey, it will last for quite a while!
A letter from our school district's Gifted Program Supervisor.
The letter stated that my youngest daughter was accepted into the Young Writer's Workshop. Each year, 4th-6th graders who are "gifted" in Creative Writing are chosen to attend this all day workshop in early February and if their writing piece that they are assigned to complete by late spring is selected based on certain criteria, then they move on to the Young Writers Institute at a "think tank" type place in a small village southwest of us. They actually meet with authors who critique their work and help them complete it. My oldest daughter did this for her last 3 years of elementary school and even had a short story published! However, she had been in the gifted program since 1st grade for Creative Writing, Math and Critical Thinking/logic. Claire, my youngest, is NOT in the gifted program but her 5th grade teacher had recommended her to this writing workshop supervisor and.....the letter stated that she can go! She is thrilled and Dave and I are so happy for her. Apparently, the teacher believes her writing is creative and concise. So of course this had to make my fave five list!!
This potato recipe.
This recipe was given to me by my good friend, Erin. (thank you, Erin..they are delicious and easy!!)
Here is the recipe:
Italian Potatoes
Red Potatoes, quartered
2 tsp each of basil, oregano, parsley
(or whatever Italian spices you want)
about 2 Tbl olive oil
Coat the potato pieces with olive oil. Sprinkle on the spices. Gently toss and place in baking dish.
Bake in 400 degree oven for 30 min. Turn potatoes, and then bake for 30 minutes more.
A big thank you to Susanne from Living to Tell the Story for hosting this fun meme each week.
Now...what is at least one of your favorite things from the past week?

A teenager's made bed? That's GOTTA make the Fave Five list! (Nothing short of a miracle!)
Congrats for your writer daughter. That's just wondeful.
And I LOVE the bag! Enjoyed your FFF. Come on over to Outnumbered Mom for inspiration and encouragement.
Congratulations to your writer girl!
I love Clinique too - I haven't had it for awhile but I think I'll have a look for that cream.
Your potato recipe looks delicious!
Happy weekend!
Love how Courtney made her bed. Her room looks great! :)
And congrats to Claire on going to the writers workshop. That will be a great experience for her.
My daughter celebrated her birthday about a month late also. And it made it so much for fun. Her birthday is late May. So it was nice to do it in the summer. :)
Do you have off school on MOnday. I am so looking forward to a day off. :)
Congrats to Claire. That is a huge accomplishment.
A made bed in a teen's room? What is this thing you speak of? LOL. That is awesome. Funny what a little of just the right motivation will accomplish.
I love roasted potatoes and have made that kind before. Yum!
Love the bag! It is beautiful.
Congrats to your daughter! That is an accomplishment worthy of FFF, for sure!
