Random Dozen

It's mid-week and time for another Random Dozen questions posed by our host Lid over at 2nd Cup of Coffee!!  I LOVE her weekly survey questions...so much fun..... here's some more random info about me......feel free to join in.....and link up at Linda's.

1. How good are you at delaying gratification?

depends.  if for coffee or chocolate, not too good! If for something like a great vacation,  I can wait, as some of the anticipation is in the planning!

2. Maybe a marshmallow wouldn't be too difficult a temptation for you. What food (or anything else) would be most tempting?

my own jar of Nutella or a huge hot fudge sundae with bittersweet sinphony ice cream, loads of fudge sauce, topped with walnuts.

3. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being saintly) how patient are you?

um....negative 3

4. Have you ever waited for something in life only to be disappointed upon realization of the goal/object/etc.?

yes...high school graduation. It wasn't all that it was cracked up to be.  But then again, I think I was just so anxious to begin a "new life" in college, away from the parents, that the graduation seemed disappointing.

5. Are you a person who takes shortcuts?

in some things....like when driving somewhere....

6. Which line is hardest to wait in?

amusement park lines with children under the age of 12

7. Did you wait to discover the gender of your unborn child until its birth?

nope. I am a planner! I wanted the nursery to look "just so" so I just had to know the gender.  Plus...I wanted a general idea of which birth announcements to order so wanted to get a head start on the design!

8. Are you more patient with children or the elderly?

Well, I am certified by the state of NY, to teach "birth through geriatric" in special education. BUT...i am MUCH more patient with children.

9. Did you ever sneak a peek at a present?

Not only did I "sneak a peek" but I unwrapped it, and then re-wrapped it!

10. What is the longest you've ever waited for anything?

Spiritually speaking:  freedom in my soul from some past "baggage"

Everyday stuff:  for the "right" man to come into my life.....2 years of seeking the Lord and not dating but just waiting for the one that the One wanted me to marry!  also, my 2nd pregnancy.  We waited 4 years before trying to have another baby, and then it took another year before I conceived.  So..I guess my ballerina beats out my husband! It took longer to wait for her than for him!

11. Who has  more patience, you or your significant other?


this depends. Neither one of us is very patient but I would have to say probably Dave is more patient than I am.

12. Which of the following songs about waiting is your pick for the best? (OK, you may substitute another, if you like.)

A) Anticipation by Carly Simon

B) The Waiting by Tom Petty

C) Right Here Waiting for You by Richard Marx

I actually like all 3 of these but the one I can relate to the most is Anticipation....and I still love Carly Simon even after all these years!!
