February Fave Five #4

It's Friday!  That means, thanks to Susanne from Living to Tell the Story, we get to review our past week and write about what tops our list of favorite things, moments or happenings.  It is a fantastic way to give thanks to God for blessing us with those simple things as well as the bigger blessings He brings our way!

A snow day!
Yes, we had some snow, about 4 inches,
during our Winter Vacation last week.
BUT....
all the children wanted at least one more snow day
(our district allows for 4)
and they got their wish on Wednesday.
Our area of NYS received 10 inches,
most of which melted last evening,
due to rain!
This was the scene in my backyard, Wed. at about 1 pm.
If you look carefully, you can see my fave birds:
cardinals:  2 males and a female in lower branches.

This store!  Actually, their website.  This past week, the online shopping at Old Navy was phenomenal!  My 11 year old needed some new things for our upcoming trip to Paris.  Since the Parisians dine out in good clothes (i.e. no jeans for dinner!) I needed to acquire some good clothes for Claire that weren't summer clothes nor ones for winter.  It is hard, I find, to shop for clothes for the "in between" season like Spring.  I am trying to think "layers".  She chose some dressy black pants, a pink skirt that is a pretty, frothy thing that swirls around her knees, a matching pink and white top which included a cami, a purple cardigan, and a pair of adorable cuffed denim capris for a more casual day. The entire bill came to less than $90.!!  And it was delivered right to my door 5 days after placing the order..for no extra charge!

This coffee:  Chocolate Cappuccino.  My teenager and I have been enjoying this afternoon delight all week.  She likes to have a snack as soon as she gets home from school......I usually have homemade muffins or cookies or some fresh fruit.  Ever since Christmas, she has wanted coffee and now that she is 16 we allow her to drink it.  She does not like it in the mornings...she just wants one cup in the afternoons.  She and I do some of our best talking over a mug of this delightful beverage.

   This fiction novel.
Maeve Binchy is truly one of my fave authors.
I have read all of her books except her first 4 and only
because I can never find them at the library.
I bought my daughter her 2nd novel for Xmas
and I hope to read it after this one.
Her books are set in Ireland and are just
wonderful in character development, setting,
and plot.  She writes so descriptively that I can almost feel
like I am truly in the little villages she speaks of
even though I have never been there.
The really neat thing about this particular novel?
My teenager also took it out of the library the same day I took one out!
She is way ahead of me, however,
as she read most of it last week
while on Winter Break.
Her books are so popular
that our library often carries 2-3 copies of each one.

The Zumba party I attended with my neighbor, Melissa.  I have already written a post about what the Lord showed me while working out to this fast-paced dance work-out......you can click here to read it.....but...it makes my fave five because of three main reasons:  time spent with my neighbor who also happens to be a good friend (we hardly ever get to do stuff together during the school year due to work, etc.), learning about a new work-out program that is also a lot of fun, and just getting away from some stress and letting God move through me...through my soul, mind and body to renew the "joy of the Lord" that has been rather fleeting for me lately...but...I was able to put things in perspective, forgive some people who had (unintentionally I believe) hurt me, and just relax!  And .....if you have never tried Zumba, go for it!  It is so much fun!  AND a total body work-out.

So....do you have a favorite from this past week?
Link up over at Susanne's and I'll come visit you.

or leave me a comment and I'll celebrate your faves with you!

Happy Weekend, everyone!

That afternoon coffee visit with your daughter is such a sweet tradition!

I enjoy Maeve Binchy - I haven't heard of that book but it looks good. I also notice the book Jesus Calling on your sidebar - I've read such good reviews about it. How do you like it?

The Zumba workout sounds like such fun - I hope that comes to our area soon.

Happy weekend!

Zumba! Wow that does sound fun! :)
Glad you and your sweet teenager can enjoy a cup of coffee together. Sounds so nice. And your daughter is going to Paris???!?!!! The outfit sounds great, I LOVE when I can order stuff online and it comes right to the house!
Glad you got some snow!! We have another snow day today. Crazy drifting snow. Did you get any out of this latest storm?

We had one good day of snow and loved it, but that was plenty for me!

I don't like to shop in Old Navy, but I found some great things online for my guys at Christmas.

I have never heard of that author. Sounds intriguing!

Zumba sounds so great!!! Glad it's proving to be a powerful "therapy" in your life. Have a blessed weekend, Faith. :~D

What a great afternoon time with your daughter. And that coffee sounds awesome.

My 15 year old loves Ireland. I'll have to see if I can get some of those novels at my library. Are they a series or can I get them in any order.

We don't have Old Navy in our city. The last few times we visited the one in the bigger city it was such a mess we just turned around and walked back out. I love the deals there but not having to shop in a messy store. Maybe online is the way to go.

Oh I adore Maeve Binchy! She's one of the few authors that I almost hate to finish a book because I've come to love the characters so much.

And I love your snow photo with cardinals - great shot!

And you know, I keep hearing the word Zumba but wasn't even sure what it was. You've made it sound great and I'm going to see if there are dvd's so I can try it out - even better if I can find one at the library! :)
