It's Wednesday which means Lidna over at 2nd Cup of Coffee...my fave blog to get a good dose of laughter into my day, is hosting the Random Dozen Survey.
Since I haven't done one of these since before leaving for Paris, I decided I should join in today.....and since it's Wednesday late afternoon, I am finally getting to this!
ENJOY!!
1. Please share one memory of your high school graduation. Pics would be great!
Ok..well, I have no pics....any pics would be at my parents' home which is 2 hours west of where I live.....the one memory that stands out is that I couldn't wait to be done with the whole thing....it was a gorgeous, sunny late June day and I was supposed to be all "bittersweet" but I couldn't wait to be done with high school and get to my college life at Roberts Wesleyan College!
2. What is one "emergency use" item you keep in your vehicle at all times?
a small fleece blanket
3. In your region, do you celebrate graduation open houses? Addendum: (If so,) how many open houses/bridal showers/weddings are on your upcoming events calendar?
In this part of NYS and I think in most of the upper East Coast states, we call them "Graduation Parties". Yes...they are widely celebrated. In my hometown they are simple backyard parties. Where I am living now...in the capital region of NYS, they tend to be elaborate parties that are either in a rented hall or backyard with DJ, lots of food, tents, drinks, desserts, and it usually lasts most of the day. AND...in our school district, most of the parties are not held on Graduation Day but the next weekend or sometime by end of July. Our high school graduates the seniors the last Saturday of June. yes..they have a Looonnnggg school year here. So far, on our social calendar, we only have one wedding to attend at the end of this month and NO graduation parties. yet. (although we know several seniors who are graduating). Invites don't usually happen until end of June.
4. Tell me one truth you believe about motherhood.
It lasts forever and is the most precious thing on this earth.
5. What was the last thing you broke?
a juice glass.
6. On average, how many pieces of junk mail do you receive daily?
2-3...I've managed to get our selves off most junk mail lists :)
7. Do you like to shop by catalog?
yes but I prefer the online ones....
8. Is lawn maintenance at your house a "his job," a "her job" or "his/her job" or "that's why we have teenagers" job?
his/hers. My teenage princess' specialty is washing the car cause she knows once she gets her license, she needs to keep it clean if she wants to borrow it!
9. Which room would you like to redecorate in your home?
the family room
10. Do you read a newspaper regularly, or do you read most of your news on line?
I read the morning paper from Thursday-Sunday (our special rate for the Albany paper) and the rest of the week I tend to either watch it in on TV or read it online.
11. Do you believe everything happens for a reason?
yes.....for the most part.....
12. Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?
doing things right when I was younger. Doing the right things, now.

We don't have graduation parties here, per say. Parents don't throw big parties with invitations like I've been reading you guys do. We have the convocation ceremonies, then that night a grad banquet and dance where everybody is dressed in the fancy dresses and suits. And SafeGrad is the thing that most kids attend after the dance or else private house parties.
I have one wedding this summer.
Fun thoughts, Faith. Ditto on this:
