It was rather a whirlwind trip.
Saturday was almost an entire day of traveling due to lots of traffic in the state of MA.
Checked into the hotel and crashed.....took naps, swam, read, walked to a wonderful Italian restaurant across the street......watched a movie after dinner on the television and we all were in bed by 11 pm.
Sunday was hot and humid in downtown Boston. We took the T in from the north shore and spent the bulk of the day walking the Freedom Trail from North Station to Bunker Hill. Toured the USS Constitution. Just amazing.....read about the history.....it is fascinating and still the oldest running ship in the world! The navy man tour guide was very good....very knowledgeable. It was VERY warm and after following the Freedom Trail back to Quincy Market, we had some ice cream, ice cold water bottles and took the T back to the North Shore. Our youngest wasn't feeling well with the heat so she took a nap while the rest of us did some reading. Went out for a wonderful dinner and then we did an evening swim in the hotel's outdoor pool. It was a great day other than Claire getting a bit of heatstroke while downtown. But God is good...she didn't get sick to her stomach and after getting on the train where it was air-conditioned, she began to feel somewhat less faint. I DO NOT recommend walking the Freedom Trail during a hot, humid day.....I did it years ago with my friend Rachael during a spring break (April) and it was much easier although more crowded!

My oldest daughter is thinking of applying to this college on the North Shore of Boston.
It is an interdenominational, evangelical Christian college with a student body of about 1600 students. She LOVED the campus but unfortunately we didn't get to meet with a graphic design prof. We might have to go back to do that in autumn. We were very impressed with the fact that she had her own reserved parking spot with her name and date of visit! I would show you the pic we took but it shows our last name and since this is the internet....well....I know you'll understand! (If you are on Facebook with me, you can view it there!) She does want to apply here now that she has had the tour and had a first interview with an admissions counselor. It is a beautiful campus and now she has 2 Christian colleges to compare and contrast. We do have a couple more campuses to visit later this summer in our own area which offer excellent graphic design programs. So.....overall, our long weekend away was a huge success!

So...that is it for now around our house......upcoming this week I'll be doing a book review and a short article about something the Lord showed me regarding our friendships in the Lord. He wants us to serve in the church (local body) and do His Will......but what about cultivating friendships? How does that all take place in our busy lives? Stay tuned.......

Looks like a very fun whirlwind trip! I would really like to visit Boston someday--especially Fenway.:)

I just love following your life in pics... so much Deja Vu... your Europe trip, college visits, your girls blossoming into young women.
We love Boston! We took our kids to see all those sights when they were very small--our daughter was instantly bitten by the marine lore of the east coast. (She now lives in D.C. w/ her Navy-wannabe husband.) Our tours of the U.S. Constitution and the Mayflower turned her into a sailor. She spent a whole summer in college aboard the Lady Maryland (Baltimore) teaching oceanography to Johns Hopkins kids.
As I've said before, enjoy that family Faith! Treasure every minute. ღ
I've always wanted to visit Boston. How exciting that one of the schools that might be a option is there for Courtney. This visiting different colleges sounds like a really fun family time.

Susanne: well if you EVER get to the east coast of the USA you better call me! I soooo wanna meet you! :) Yes the visiting colleges thing can be fun. The first college visit tho we left our 11 yr old with her aunt/uncle. she would have been BORED...the boston visit was fun and the college we saw out there was a shorter day...so we brought her! plus we ran out of people we could use to watch her :)
