Wow. It's the last Friday of August! We still have one full week and a long weekend before school begins again but I am actually starting to wind down some of our summer activities. We have packed a lot of activity in this particular summer. We only went out of town on vacation once, and will leave again for the T---family beach house next week. (I don't count our out-of-area college visits as vacation days.....we had 2 of those and 2 here in the area). It has been a pretty good month. This week has definitely had some favorites. Let's start with last Saturday:

In center: Courtney, Claire, Dave, and Courtney's friend Beth Wave Pool Great Escape |
Attending the company party at 6 Flags/Great Escape in Lake George. Each year, the company my husband Dave works for gets free tickets for immediate family. These include parking, all the rides, attractions, water park, and free drinks throughout the park. It also includes a BBQ lunch. We met some friends of ours up there whom we only see at company events....went on rides together, ate together, chatted and caught up on family news. The pic you see above was taken by me....it was a cool day...not hot enough for me to get into a suit and splash in the wave pool. I had tons of fun watching my daughters, a friend, and my hubby.
The Grand Opening of the first Fresh Market to hit New York State.....and it's right here in my town!!
When I first walked in, it reminded me of some of the markets we visited in Paris. Minus the well-dressed French, quiet demeanor of the Parisians, and minus the casual strolling. The place was in a frenzy. It was crowded, loud, and bustling. But...then again, people from all over the Capital Region wanted to check it out. Our suburban town is the perfect place for this upscale, fresh market. My favorite sections (besides the produce) are the seafood, bakery, and cheese sections. It is now the place where I will buy my breads, cheeses, meats, fruits/veggies (and many of them are local/organic!!) and some baked goods. And they had the pear juice we had in Paris. The only place here in the state of NY where I have been able to find it! So....this is definitely a fave and a blessing!
Fresh Plums! guess where I purchased them??!)
I am the only one in the house who really likes this fruit. My husband will eat one if I stick it in his lunchbox but.....I am the one who loves this fruit. I like to toss into my beach bag for an afternoon at the lake or just eat as a late afternoon snack. The juicier the better! YUMMY!! I think it has always been one of my favorite fruits.

Art on Adirondack Chair Depicts a wooded area with quilt designs on seat and arms. Made by a local artist. |
A day in the small city of Glens Falls, which is about 45 minutes north of us. We spent the late morning and all afternoon with my sister, Joy, who is on vacation. Her son Luke did not want to join us (he is 17) because we went to an art gallery! This is the exhibit we saw.....it was wonderful and my oldest daughter, the artist, really liked his watercolors. I really enjoyed 3 of his works and wish I could have bought a print of one of them.....but....they didn't have any for sale. We followed our tour of the art and historic home by doing the downtown walking tour of the Adirondack Chair Art. Basically, each chair was sponsored by a Glens Falls company and designed by local artists. I have shown my favorite. These were scattered on the main streets of the downtown area. There were about 34 of them. We followed this by having a late lunch at this place, which is my absolute favorite lunch spot in the Adirondacks. For dessert, we headed to Joy's favorite ice cream place. We had a delightful day and the girls each bought an "artist bear" for only $3.00!! Like they need more stuffed animals....~sigh~~

Ice cold lemonade for dinner. For some reason, this summer I have craved lemonade. Tart lemonade, without lots of sugar. I love it! I have been serving it at dinner...although the temps have been a bit cooler since we finally received some rain on Sunday/Monday, this drink was what I served on Tuesday evening with dinner. It was not a hot day but it felt a bit humid. I had the windows open.....the sun broke through in the mid-afternoon so I thought it was a perfect day to fix my craving! It really does remind me of long, lazy summer days......yummy!
Well, those are the blessings of the Lord that He surprised me with this week.
Tomorrow we head to my sister Hope's out in the central part of the state. She and her husband are hosting our family picnic. All 3 of my sisters are planning on attending as well as my parents. We'll eat, the children/teens will play games and of course we'll catch up on everyone's lives and what God is doing in each one of us. I am most blessed that everyone on my side of the family knows the Lord. HE IS GOOD!
I hope you have a blessed weekend......feel free to leave your comments about your own FFF and I'll be sure to come visit....also...if you are a blogger and participating in the FFF, make sure you link up over at Susanne's who continues to be our wonderful hostess each week!

Faith, when I was at the team building event yesterday they had San Pellegrino Aranciata Sparking Beverage there to drink and people were saying that it tasted like that orangeina, not sure about the spelling but I knew you really like it when you were in Paris. I'm thinking that the Fresh Market may carry it. What a beautiful cool morning! Have the day off to get Jesse ready for his trip tomorrow.
Erin: THANKS for telling me about that Pellgrino! I looked for Orangina at Fresh Market but didn't see it. I did find the pear juice tho :)
I'll be praying for you as you drop off J. he will be great....you can tell me all about it since that'll be me next year this time :) Thanks for visiting here!!
What a great family fun day the company gives you! I love waterparks but hubby won't get in so our case in would be him taking the pics. LOL.
A fresh market in ones town would be awesome! I love plums too and picked up some really good ones from Costco this year. They were huge and just perfectly ripe (which was surprising) and very juicy. A napkin is a must when eating them. :v)
The Fresh Market sounds like a great place to shop. Reminds me of the Trader Joe's that opened in my state: that place is jammed every time I drive by, and I still haven't set foot inside the store!
My supermarket carries Orangina, although it's pricey. Have you checked all the stores in your area?
Beautiful list and pictures! I love Fresh Market! :) And I love lemonade too!!
That study you mentioned by Beth Moore rocks! I did it once and will do it after I finish this one! The one I am doing is Breaking Free:Making Liberty In Christ A Reality in Life. Blessings!
That was a nice week for you ! Your comany party sounds good !
If you want to see my Acrylic paintings they are here
what a great company your husband works for sending families to enjoy themselves together. the fresh market sounds like an awesome place to shop.
Great list for the week.
Have a blast with your sister!!! :) God IS good!!! So good, sometimes it's hard to even comprehend :)
The wave pool looks like it made for a fun day. Love the chair. It amazes me how some people can be so talented. I had a great lemonade this week from Chick-fil-a - I love their lemonade. Praying you have safe travels!
that market sounds wonderful how great it would be to be able to find all fresh. lemonade is my favorite hot weather drink running a close second is a good glass of iced tea
Sadly, I passed over the plums at our farmer's market last week... no one eats them! They're so pretty tho!
I crave citrus too... especially limeade. I think maybe it's hormones or something? LOL.
You're blessed to have a believing extended family. :~D
Hey, speaking of French markets, I just posted a recipe for Croque-Monsiers at Susannah's {Kitchen}. In the mood for ham and gruyere?

FAITH! I finally made it to your blog, I have been so busy this summer, now quite what I expected, but that is the phase of life we are in right now!!!! Great Escape looks like such a fun day. Fresh Market sounds like the kind of place I would ALSO LOVE!!!! And those plums looks so good!!! Hey and I am heading to a Family Together this weekend also! I do cherish those times!
What a nice family day provided by your employer!
The Adirondike chair is great! I've seen this type of thing done in a few different cities. Amarillo, TX has painted horses scattered around the city. Calgary, Alberta has painted cows.
I know I've seen other displays of this type, but cannot immediately place them.
The Fresh Market sounds wonderful! Wish we had one.
Love the Adirondack chair, too. Hope you have a wonderful family time.
