I haven't participated in one of these Random Dozen memes in a long time!
So...here I go....instead of getting to bed early....many THANKS to Linda....just click on the button above to head over to her place to link up or read other random dozens!
1. Describe the best sandwich in the world, according to you.
The "Pilgrim" from a diner here in my town. It is usually on white bread but I always get it on rye. It is sliced turkey, a layer of stuffing, a layer of cranberry sauce, another layer of turkey, and gravy. It is DELICIOUS! and it's available all year round, not just at Thanksgiving time!
2. Which inspires you more: a good conversation, a song, a book or movie?
All of these things can inspire me, depending on the circumstances. However, I am probably most inspired by a great book.
3. What is your favorite board game?
This is a tough one because here in the T----family, we enjoy MANY board games. We particularly like Pictionary or Moose in the House. A new one we have discovered is Settlers of Catan, although my daughters think it is "too long" (one game usually takes about 2 hours). Moose in the House is a favorite for when we've camped or been on vacation. But if I had to choose just one, I'd say Pictionary.
4. As you grow older, are you more or less patient with small children?
Much more patient as I've grown older but I think that is mainly because of experience, being more relaxed and less stressed about trying to "be perfect".
5. Name one item you never let yourself run out of.
Coffee. I need it. Every.single. day. not kidding. (and chocolate, but Linda says pick one)
6. Do you agree with Tennyson's assertion, "'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all?"
absolutely! I cannot imagine my life with out love in it...without loving, and without being loved. It is a risk. Sometimes it ends in pain. But it is always worth it. I have recently experienced the "lost it" part with a friend.....but it was all worth it...the loving her I mean, and plus I find it really easy to forgive and forget. I think that helps!
7. Name one national treasure or monument that you have visited.
Since we travel each year either in the spring or summer to various national parks, etc. this will be hard to choose! We have been blessed to have seen many wonderful sights. One that we just did for the first time this past summer was the USS Constitution. Truly a national treasure. It is the oldest, commissioned navy vessel, located in Boston Harbor. She was launched in 1797 and still goes out twice a year! It was a marvelous tour.
8. Which is more painful, to be disappointed in someone else or to be disappointed in yourself? Both. But I am tougher on my self.
9. What makes your kitchen uniquely yours?
um....the crazy calendar we have on our fridge. It is a magnetic write-on/wipe off board that I have had since my 17 year old was 3. I have it color-coded for all the extra-curricular, church, youth group, and school events that take place all year long. Everyone who knows me, knows about the calendar...lol....
10. Are you a crafty person? arts and crafts? um... NO. Crafty as in sly? um... maybe!
11. What is your favorite traditional picnic or bbq (cookout) food?
Chicken and ranch pasta salad.
12. Name one leisurely activity you enjoyed over Labor Day Weekend.
Kayaking on Buzzards Bay/Cape Cod with my favorite T----family relative!

Now that sounds like some kind of sandwich. Yum. I'm not a big sandwich lover but everybody's favorites are quite the sandwiches and are changing my mind about the lowly little sandwich.
We answered almost the same for the patience with kids question.
Yes, the USS Constitution is a treasure! Our daughter (and SIL) love all things nautical and therefore we've seen a lot historic ships and aquariums. I love the way our kids expand our world!
I enjoyed learning more about you Faith. I don't know Moose in the House... will check into it!
(Sounds Canadian, or something!) ღ
