Little Things....

Last evening, I was writing in my "Treasures from God" journal.


I'm doing this a couple of evenings each week, like the author of One Thousand Gifts encourages.  


I'm finding my self being grateful for even those little things that we so often take for granted.....


this is a great discipline because the Lord actually commands us to do it, in various places throughout Scripture!  We are to "give thanks in everything". 


This doesn't just mean in whatever situation, whether good or unpleasant, the Lord has us in...but, to me, this means  IN ALL THINGS!  Everything that we are surrounded with/by in our daily lives.....it all belongs to God.  We need to make it a practice of saying "thank You" to Him.  (I'm so with the author on that!)....I don't usually find it difficult to say Thank You....but....I am finding that I often don't think about those "little things" as being treasures from God.  They are just there.  Part of the daily cycle and spin of life...and yet, when I pause to reflect on them, I realize that those little things are usually things that I really love.  And God knows that!  He blesses us!!


Here is what my heart is overflowing with today, in gratitude, towards Him.

• ~the robin's sweet lullaby sound at dusk

• ~the stubble of my husband's cheeks grazing mine in an early morning hug~

• ~hot, buttered toast~

• ~the velvety-soft touch of the first April tulip petals~

• ~nite-time hugs from daughter #2 that cling tightly with whispered words of "pray with me, mommy, pray with me....."

and in so doing, I think of my Father, whispering words to my heart.....

~~"Pray, Faith, pray.....and be still....and know that I am God......in every little thing, give thanks"~~
