It's time for the Friday Fave Fives where we take time to post 5 special moments, people, or things from our past week. Susanne, from Living to Tell the Story is our gracious host. Link up with her to participate or just leave me a comment sharing your fave moment from the past week.....
I have been very aware of the Lord working in my life this week.....reminding me of His Love, His compassion, His Mercy, His forgiveness and His Heart. My heart has ached for a friend of mine.....yet....I don't see any results....thank goodness we can place these people in His Hands.....He knows the outcome....and....I have been reminded over and over this week, through devotionals, through my daughters, and even through the fiction book I am reading, of how we need to forgive the people who are unkind to us...who have been jealous of us, who have torn apart relationships, who have excluded us, and who harbor bitterness against us.....basically, any person who has hurt us....we are to love them! And I have been stretched in this area...but He is definitely working on my heart and I am gaining so much peace from it......so that's my first thing:
- INNER PEACE FROM GOD: sitting on my living room couch, late one afternoon this past week and seeing the sun streaming on the spring-green leaves of my cherry tree and the gentle breeze that was blowing...so peaceful.... reminded me of the new sense of peace I have received from the Lord. Yes, my heart still aches with missing someone I care about very much....and still hoping we can reconnect....someday....when hurts have healed...but the deep peace that comes from the assurance that Jesus holds me.....that makes a fave list!
- LEMON BLOSSOM-BASIL BODY WASH this body wash by Avon is delightfully refreshing! It has a light scent and I catch just a whiff of the basil....it's very subtle with the lemon overtones...perfect for a hot, summer day....and it rinses clean with no oily feeling....
- FRUIT SALES I typically shop at 3 different places for fresh fruits and veggies during the spring and summer months, depending on the sales. This past week, one of my fave stores had fresh lemons, strawberries and braeburn apples on sale....all favorites of mine to add to salads, water or spritzers and to just eat as a snack or with cheese and bread for lunch. Light lunches and fresh fruit are a fave with me!
- FRESH CUT WOOD BOARDS This makes my list because it has to do with my husband getting off the couch after dinner and building a new boat rack for our 3 kayaks! It has been great to see him working with his hands again, rather than clicking away at a keyboard, and the smell of the fresh, new wood is one of my fave scents! Now that we have had a stroke of good weather, with warm, sunny days and cool, breezy evenings and mornings, we have been getting these projects done and sprucing up the yard.....in prep for the grad party! And that is always a fave with me....prepping for a party!
- LATE AFTERNOONS ON THE DECK It has been a perfect week, weather wise, in the Capital Region of New York State. And that means, for me, spending my late afternoons, before dinner time, on the deck with a large glass of iced tea and a great book. (see side bar for the current reads). It's a great way to de-stress and re-focus after a long morning in the classroom and an afternoon of running around town doing errands, etc. I love just sitting for a half hour before cooking dinner and enjoying the time outdoors......I sure hope we have a summer of many days like we had this past week! Warm days and cool evenings.....PERFECT!! and all the windows are open!! A double fave!
That wraps up my faves for the past week......
Tonight we will be attending the 12 year old's Dance Show where she will be dancing for the very first time on pointe! (for an audience). She is also doing a pas de deux with a girl from her advanced ballet class and a group ballet as troupe leader for her regular ballet class. Our oldest daughter has a formal Senior Banquet at our church at the same time so we will all meet back at the house later tonite for dessert with my inlaws.
Do you have weekend plans?? What are they??

Can't wait to see pics of tonight's performance. Enjoy your weekend! :)
Forgiveness and inner peace. Those are huge favorites of mine too!
I really like that smell from Avon. I bought the body spray but actually use it as a air freshener spritz.
Forgiveness is huge to experiencing that inner peace.
I love the smell of fresh cut wood too.
I so appreciated your sharing how God is encouraging you, comforting you, and transforming you. Wonderful gifts indeed.
That peace that passes all understanding is the best gift, isn't it? You have a busy but great weekend ahead, don't you? We'll have to see pictures of your hubby's handiwork and your grad party preparations, you know...
Happy week ahead to you!
SO glad the Lord is meeting you in this situation - and I pray that a resolution comes quickly. There is nothing sweeter than trusting Him to carry us through a difficult time.
I've never had braeburn apples - I'll have to give them a try.
Your description of sitting on the dek enjoying the beauty of summer really resonates with me - it's my favourite time of year.
Happy weekend!
What encouraging words! Thanks for sharing them. Isn't it great to just sit and rest in the afternoon? I agree that I'm looking forward to a whole summer of afternoons like that!
I hope the dance recital went well. I remember my first show dancing on pointe! That's exciting!
Isn't it amazing how many ways God speaks to us? Even so, I can still find a way to say, "but... I think it should be THIS Way!" (oh well, I'm a work in progress... ) I'm glad you felt the comfort of the inner peace he provides.
The body wash sounds fantastic, hooray for the boat rack, and YES! it was the BEST week in NY in a long time! I wish it could be like that all year!
