It's time to Fall into Reading!!
You can read about the reading/book challenge over at Callapidder Days which is hosting this season of reading again! I so much enjoyed making my way through my spring reading list...in fact....I finished almost every book on my list minus a couple that I couldn't find at the library. Since funds are low for buying new books this year (we are helping to put our oldest through a private Christian college and it is NOT cheap!), I am borrowing books from the town library or from family/friends. So.....if you wanna join in on this head over to Callapidder Days by clicking here. The rules are easy....so head over there and join in on some good reading or just get ideas of books from other bloggers.
Here's my list! (I'm sorry I don't have image of the books...I will for the book reviews....I just am pressed for time this weekend!)
- finish Burnt Mountain (fiction) by Anne Rivers Siddon
- finish At the Mercy of the Mountains (true stories of survival and tragedy in the Adirondacks!)(non-fiction)
- The Sixth Man by David Baldacchi (fiction/mystery)
- These Things Hidden by Heather Gudenkauf (fiction/suspense). I LOVED her novel The Weight of Silence..it was so well written and left an impact...I am really looking forward to reading this)
- Breaking Silence by Linda Castillo (fiction/mystery). I read her book Sworn to Silence and really enjoyed it. It is about a detective who grew up Amish and her books seem to be set around the Amish population.
- Parenting with Purpose and Grace by Alice Fryling (non-fiction). This won't be done by December but it is the book we are studying for the small group I lead. It is an excellent Christian resource for parents, totally based on Scripture.
- finish The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest (the 3rd book in the Millennium series). I started this series last spring and loved the first 2 books, although they both were tough to get into at first. This third book is also tough to begin...I'm not sure why but it feels bogged down, if that makes sense. BUT....so many people, my husband and oldest daughter included, said I HAVE to read it and finish it....they say it is amazing......so...I do plan on finishing it. We own the series so that one is on hold because these other fiction books are from the library and I can only renew them twice.
- finish the non-fiction book Faith in the Hands of Power by Dr Michael Lyndsay. He is the new president of Gordon College and he used to be a professor at Rice University. Gordon is where our oldest daughter goes for Graphic Design and Math. It is a tough read....lots of politics...but from an evangelical perspective, it is a good read and an important one. It might take awhile for this one...it's slow going and my husband is also reading it. We splurged and bought it at the college bookstore.
So..that's my list for now....I often add to it......but these are the ones I want to complete by the holiday season.
Now I'm turning off this laptop, heading over to my living room with a good cup of Cinnamon-Spice DD coffee and sitting in my fave reading chair with Burnt Mountain. My goal is to have the book review up and posted by Wednesday!
HAPPY READING, EVERYONE!!

That Adirondack one sounds interesting Faith and that one sounds like it's right up your alley. We made a spur of the moment trip on the weekend so I didn't get as much reading time as usual so just wrapped up my summer reading. A few days late but oh well.
Looks good, Faith! I haven't read to many David Baldacci books, but my husband really enjoys his novels. I also haven't read the Girl Who.. series, but I hear so many raves about it. One of these days... :) Thanks for being part of the challenge!
