Have you read this book yet??
When I first saw this book last spring, I thought it was yet another book about the whole heaven hype.
But wow......this is an account from a pre-schooler's lips and eyes!!
I was drawn to the book because Claire's dance teacher, who is Catholic, loved it and says she now believes!!
And...I have a passion for pre-schoolers as I spent the bulk of my teaching career teaching children ages 2-6. I LOVE that age......they are brutally honest, innocent, and inquisitive.
This book is gripping...and if you didn't believe in heaven before reading this, you will after completing it!
This book gives hope to people who have lost loved ones who knew the Lord. It gives hope to parents who have had to suffer through miscarriages/spontaneous abortions.
Make no mistake: people who have Jesus in their hearts will enter the kingdom of God (Heaven). The little boy recounts what he saw and experienced in 3 minutes while on the operating table for a ruptured appendix. He reports that only if we know Jesus will we go to heaven. He tells us that God sends down power to help his daddy preach! (the Holy Spirit)...and it confirms what his dad does before every sermon: he asks the Lord to give him the words, etc. It is powerful reading!!
This book is very believable. The little boy's dad is a Wesleyan pastor and they live in Nebraska. Dad has written the story along with Lynn Vincent who wrote Same Kind of Different as Me among other books. They have 3 children here on earth and Colton (the little boy) met his sister who was the result of a miscarriage here on earth!! And he didn't know his mommy had had a miscarriage!! He was too young at the time it happened for them to explain it all to him. His parents didn't know if she was a boy or girl so they didn't name her. And this is what Colton reports to his parents. He also met a great grandfather who had died when his own daddy was a little boy!! And he reports that we aren't old in heaven nor do people wear glasses (yeah!!)
He talks about the "Rainbow Colors" he sees....and he sees John the Baptist. He sees the throne of God and describes Jesus as sitting at God's right hand. He says the Holy Spirit is blue. He says Gabriel the angel is sitting on God's left side. He says he sat in Jesus' lap and that Jesus really loves the children.
Read this book!! It is for everyone....I plan on buying both daughters a copy of this book for Christmas.
I highly recommend it and on a scale of 1-10 I rate this a 10.
I am now reading a book that is not on my original Fall into Reading Challenge. It is called The Lake of Dreams by Kim Edwards who is the author of one of my all-time fave books, The Memory Keeper's Daughter.
How are YOU doing with your reading this autumn??
What books are you enjoying?? I am still plodding my way through Faith in the Halls of Power and hope to finish by the end of Thanksgiving vacation!
HAPPY READING!!

T. has this book and I'm waiting until she reads it first before I nab it from her.
I also loved Kim Edwards first novel and have been wanting to read this one. I missed getting it at Superstore when they had a good sale on it and am now kicking myself as I haven't seen it again since or at Costco. Guess I'll get it on my borrowing list from the library or put it on my Christmas list. :v)
I rarely buy books...I borrowed it from the library!! :)
I sense your enthusiasm Faith... if it's a "10", then this book really grabbed your attention!
We all want to know what's next on the agenda after death, don't we? My favorite book on the subject of heaven is Heaven by Randy Alcorn. Very scholarly, but quite imaginative too.
There's no doubt that young children can exhibit faith, and George Barna (Barna Report) says the BEST time to reach people for Jesus is in childhood... as pre-schoolers!
So I don't doubt that this child had a "God experience." However, until I read it, and compare his experience against Scripture, I'm good to maintain a healthy dose of skepticism.
Nothing personal you understand, right?

I have actually read this book and I agree it was awesome.
Thanks for responding to my comment, Faith! Well, you've whetted my appetite for more. I've seen this book at CBD.com in their featured books area. Maybe I can find it in the library!
