I just completed this novel during my breakfast time this morning.
The author is new to me and his writing style and story-line reminded me of the Nicholas Sparks books. There is a little bit of mystery, romance and just enough excitement towards the end to keep you moving forward.
Although I don't tend to read romance novels, this book wasn't too overpowering in the romance aspect. It was a nice read and anyone over age 13 could read this book.
Basically, the book centers around the Blaine Family and a widow named Gabby who has a troubled teen son named Trevor. The book opens with a scenario 5 years earlier: Wyatt, the lawyer son of the renowned Florida rancher Ram Blaine who owns the Flying B Ranch, is having his 35th birthday party and his wife and young son go out to buy more ice cream. They are hit by a drunk driver and killed.
Wyatt is devastated.
The drunk driver was the soon-to-be-ex husband of Gabby, a History teacher at the local high school.
Meanwhile, her son has been getting into all kinds of trouble at school. The anger issues stem from his father's death, as he too, died in the accident he caused. Trevor blames the Blaine family because he cannot accept the fact that his dad, whom he worshiped, was a drunk. Gabby's pastor, who happens to also be the pastor for the Blaine family, tells Gabby and Trevor about a horse therapy program for troubled teens.
The program is being restarted by Wyatt, to carry on his wife's wishes.
Little did he know he would begin to fall in love with Gabby.
I won't tell you the rest of the story as there are some nice little mysteries that go along in the story line.
I recommend this book to any Nicholas Sparks fans.
It is appropriate for ages 13 and older.
On a rating from 1-10 with 10 being the highest, I rate this an 8.
