It's Friday and I don't have to be in the classroom today! Only head teachers have school....which is great because my youngest was up very late due to the first performance of the spring musical (The Wizard of Oz) that she is in at the junior high. Last year I had to attend the workshops held on this day but this year they gave all the assistants the day off!! I guess that's gonna count as my first fave :)
Most of these faves are random....none of them connect to each other but every single one is definitely a gift from God. It's good to reflect back on the week and find those FIVE FAVES that we can share.......come join in the fun by linking up your own post over at Susanne's.
- COLOR AND CUT! My oldest daughter wanted her hair trimmed a bit before heading back to college from spring break and I had already had a color and cut scheduled so she tagged along with me. I wanted my stylist to do a graduated bob, where it's shorter and close in the back and longer on front/side. She did a great job! I have very thick hair so a traditional bob doesn't work for my hair very well (the blunt cut kind). The graduated (or stacked, French style) bob works great.....not sure if I like the side-swept "bangs" but for now I'm going with it. I LOVE the color...it's a little darker which is good...will hide the grey a tad bit longer :) And it was fun to be with my oldest, chatting with her and looking at fashion magazines. I will never take for granted time at the hair salon!

- FAMILY GAME NIGHT! Last Saturday evening was our last evening with Courtney home until mid-May. We decided to do a family game night since she had gone out with a friend the day before. Her college spring break was only a week so we were happy she decided to hang out with us. Our youngest doesn't care for this board game so she decided to hang out in the family room and watch a movie while we battled it out in the dining room. It was fun! Of course my husband won the first game so Courtney and I "ganged up" on him and Courtney beat him in the last game. I'm so thankful our oldest gal still enjoys Family Game Night!

- FIELD TRIP! All 3 classes of 2nd graders at the school where I assist took a field trip to wrap up our Social Studies unit on the 3 kinds of communities (rural, suburban, urban). Since the little autistic boy I work closely with is in the 2nd grade, I was able to bring him on this trip! We went to downtown Albany (believe it or not, even though my town is only about 7 miles north of the city, many of these suburban children had NEVER been to downtown!!) We went to this museum and did the walking tour. The children had a great time and the little boy I work with loved every minute. He didn't have any major issues on the trip until the very end when he started getting fidgety from watching a video of life in Albany back in the 1600s. At that point, I pulled out some sensory integration toys and he was fine until time to board the bus. It is a blessing to be able to do special ed as an assistant and enjoy the perks of the job without all the paperwork like my first years in Special Education! And what a fun trip!!
- CINNAMON SPICE COFFEE! This past week has been one of many late nights. Claire is in the junior high Spring Musical which was yesterday (opening night, tonite, tomorrow (when Dave and I are going) and a Sunday matinee performance. She LOVES theater, dance, singing....being on stage. The musicals in our district are very demanding. This year they are doing The Wizard of Oz (the high school just did Sound of Music!). For the last 2 weeks there have been rehearsals every day after school until 6 pm and before that, from January til last week, the rehearsals were 2-3 days a week after school til 4 or 5 pm. The students work hard. And then once they are home, they have to do their homework! Well, the week of the show is one where the kids rehearse until 6:30!! Which means she is eating dinner around 7 pm that I have kept warm for her and it means I.am.tired. So...I've made my self a mug each late afternoon after work of this coffee. I use my Keurig filter for a one cup and it works great!! (I haven't yet found cinnamon spice in a K-cup which is why I use the one cup filter). It really helps get me through these long evenings and it's been tasting so good on these cold days.
- SPRING SEASON! Yes, here in New York State (and New England), the weather says it is still winter. However, on Wednesday, the calender said it was now Spring. I thought this quote was great....it might SAY it's Spring Season but in reality we are still having late winter weather. We even had another 4 inches of snow the other day! Yesterday it started to melt a bit but when I left for work it was only 18 degrees F!! BRrrrrr.....I am thankful that the calender says Spring though and I know I'll be seeing my crocuses popping up in another couple of weeks.....or...maybe a month!
That wraps it up for me. Do you have some faves from your week?
Please feel free to share one of them in the comment section!
Happy Weekend!!!......I'm off to see the Wizard!!

Love your hairstyle!
Cinnamon Spice coffee sounds good. Some of the flavored coffees have an artificial taste, but Cinnamon Spice sounds like it could be made without artificial flavors.
Great quote about spring! It's still cold here, too.
Have a great weekend!
spending time with daughters is the best!! I am hoping for crocus soon too...i am making do with bunches of daffodils on the kitchen table though.
I am so looking forward to seeing my girl at Easter. I'm praying the roads and weather are good! Our schools, including post secondary tend to have a week off the third week of February so that is when we visited her. Glad that Courtney could get home both times to be with you guys and how wonderful that she still chooses to visit with you than going out with friends every night. My girl is the same.
We don't have Dunkin' Donuts here but sometimes I'll just sprinkle cinnamon right into my coffee. Yummy.
Your color and cut look great including the side swept bangs.
Nice haircut! I like my bangs sideswept -- I don't like them straight down but I need something there.
We love that game! We only play when the kids are over, though.
I think it is a special gift to teach special ed. So many of us just get frozen because we don't know what to do.
The field trip sounds great!
Oh my goodness CINNAMON DUNKIN COFFEE?????????? I WANT!!!!!!!! I Shall get some!! Yummmmm :)
You look great, love the cut/color!! I like the darker :)
Glad you had fun at game night; I'm not much of a board game player at all but I do enjoy playing Apples to Apples (not a board game, lol)..we usually play with Hope and Donny and have so much fun!!
The field trip sounds fun, there are so many great places around New York!!!
I'm a big Dunkin Donut fan! And I think Game Night is always fun. My boys won't play Scrabble with me, though...(It's an English teacher thing.)
Hope you see crocuses soon, Faith!
Your hairdresser did a great job ! you are lucky to have thick hair ! Mine is difficult to cut and put some volume into it, lol ! Yes here too children have never seen more then where they live I even had a little girl asking me if Steaks would grow on a tree !
Cute hairstyle! And just in time to attend the play as a proud mom.
I love to travel and see new things so it is hard for me to imagine how limited your students' lives are. People in the 'burbs just don't seem to get outside the neighbors much. I'm glad they had that wonderful opportunity.
Enjoy your extra long weekend!
