This week flew by!
It was one in which there were lots of "surprises" to the week........so those made my faves list.
Joining in with Susanne to share our five favorite blessings from the past week.
FAVES THAT SURPRISED

- PLATINUM! Our youngest daughter (Claire) traveled with the other members of the Select Chorus (a group of 7th & 8th graders who are chosen by vocal audition) to central MA last Friday for the Great East Music Majors. They performed the music that they had sung the evening before in the spring concert (mentioned in last week's faves) and earned the highest rating!! This was a surprise to Claire because, although they earned Platinum last year, she said they probably wouldn't earn it this year. We are very proud and feel very blessed to be in such a great school district that promotes the arts. Awesome surprise!

- QUICK TRIP WITH A SURPRISE: my husband and I had to make a quick Saturday afternoon trip out to the central part of the state (the Mohawk Valley, pictured above) to see my dad and do some things with him. I can't tell you the rest......it's a surprise! I will be able to share about it next week!!!! Let's just say this: it's gonna be a BIG surprise and it was a BIG BLESSING!
- MOTHER'S DAY BREAKFAST! My husband totally surprised me by offering to make breakfast (I knew he was gonna take me out to dinner later that day, with Claire). I thoroughly enjoyed this veggie omelette and toast with blueberry-peach preserves. YUMMY! We also enjoyed a first time meal at this establishment which is about 35 minutes east of us.....close to the Vermont border. But the best surprise were the cards from Claire and Dave (he even drew me a special ink drawing to match a sentiment he wrote) and the phone call from my college gal! Loved every minute of my day...I just relaxed and read a book!

- LILACS! The lilac bush totally surprised me this year. It bloomed VERY well even though we had a late frost and the scent this year seems particularly intoxicating. I just LOVE it. Sadly, I am a bit allergic to them (I get itchy eyes) and my youngest gets to sneezing, so I have to just put a bunch in the house for a short time. But they are so lovely to smell and look at. I tend to sit out in the chaise near the bush and read in the early evening sun......the scent doesn't make my eyes itch when I am outside near the bush. They are pretty to look at, too!

- SUN! I was totally surprised to see the sun breaking free of the clouds.....it inspired me to write this on Wednesday evening.
that wraps it up for me!
My college girl (Courtney) is coming home later today........she just finished up her 2nd year at Gordon College. I am so thankful she has a summer job to come home to, and that she will get to be with us for about 2 1/2 months before she heads back to lead a group of freshmen through Orientation Week. We are hoping and praying for a good GPA and can't wait to see her portfolio of her art work from the semester. I also can't believe she is turning 20 in July. The time is precious....savor every moment with your children because they grow up and leave the nest so quickly. The time really does fly when you are a mom.
I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Mother's Day last Sunday
How about sharing at least one fave of yours from the week?
......and have a great weekend!!

Time sure does fly! I can't believe all my kids are now adults and my last will be leaving for school in the fall. Your Mother's Day sounds like it was lovely. That omelet looks delicious! I love breakfasts that I don't cook myself.
I'll link your post for you as I was late getting up Mr. Linky.
Your lilac bush is gorgeous. I can almost smell it here. What a visual treat whether it is indoors or out.
Such a tease you are, Faith, about your surprise. I will certainly be back next week so I can be in the know.
Congrats to Claire and the rest of the choir members. Bravo to their continued hard work that got them to platinum.
Glad you had such a nice Mother's Day. A delicious looking brunch too!
You'll be happy to have your girl home this summer - I feel the same way about mine. We have one more year with her as she has another year in college here and then . . . then we'll see what the Lord has in store. But we are certainly enjoying the time we have with her now. It's bonus.
You have me curious about next week :)
Glad to hear your college girl is home! A surprise? How fun...and mysterious. (I'll sure be back next week!) The lilacs are beautiful! Have a great week, Faith.
Congratulations to Claire's chorus!
Your surprise sounds mysterious and intriguing!
That breakfast looks wonderful! And your Mother's Day sounds really nice.
The lilacs are lovely. We have a bush that I think might be lilacs - I haven't gotten close enough to look at them and look up lilacs to compare.
Seeing the sunshine after cloudy or rainy weather is so comforting and invigorating.
Glad your college girl is home!
Enjoy your girl! Yes, they grow up so fast and move away. But they're still our kids.
Since my hubby is allergic to all flowers, I put the cut roses on the patio. I can enjoy them when I sit out there and also when I see them through the window.
It sounds like you had a great Mother's Day--two special meals :)
