July Day Book

I'm linking up with Peggy over at The Simple Woman's Daybook, where we do a little creative writing about the start to our day...feel free to link up and join in!

FOR TODAY, July 2nd

Outside my window... grey, humid, and wet, but the grass is super lush and green!

I am thinking... about all the people in the Mohawk Valley who are dealing with a major flood, my dad included, and all the devastation there that has happened in the last 4 days.

I am thankful... that I have the summer off from working in the classroom!

In the kitchen... plans for Creamy Veggie Orzo Salad and Italian Beef Burgers for dinner and melon/blueberry fruit cup for dessert

I am wearing...black yoga capri pants and a "go green" tee shirt (my work-out wear), barefeet with pink toe polish and my ankle bracelet

I am creating...... a photo album (with Snapfish) for the highlights of 2011 (yes, I am behind!)

I am going.... to catch up on reading today as it's another rainy day

I am reading........the books listed on my side bar and this book from the library to prep for our vacation in Long Lake

I am hoping..........that the rainy weather ends today in the Northeast and moves on out to the western part of our nation!

I am learning........to let my 14 year old be a little more independent

Around the house.......sheets stripped from beds and washed, vacuuming the carpet in living room and all the bedrooms, and organizing kitchen cupboards

A favorite quote......

One of my favorite things.......a steaming mug of Dunkin' Donuts coconut coffee

A few plans........ relaxing with dinner on the deck on Thursday after a trip to the beach/lake with my youngest daughter, (if the rain lets up), fireworks, helping my dad clean out his basement on Friday (lots of mud to be hauled away!), and a Sunday hike with my husband.  Our oldest daughter has to work at the amusement park every day for the rest of the week beginning tomorrow

a peek into my day....

this was Sunday, 2 days after the flood

Been praying for your Dad. That mud. One doesn't think of all the mud that gets left behind in a flood. Praying that cleanup go quickly!

We had our fireworks last night. This was the first year in a long time I didn't watch it in some way.

Thank you Susanne for praying for dad. He is kind of discouraged. I am praying his car will be repaired and brought back to him by the end of the week. He likes being able to get out and just can't right now and yet refuses to come stay with us or any of my sisters!! He is physically fine but he is just getting so discouraged with all this rain and devastation in that little valley. We want to go see the fireworks but Dave doesn't care for all the crowds so...maybe I will just take the girls!

That lesson you are learning is so hard! My heart aches just thinking about it. There is a lot of destruction around the nation. I guess our news has been so focused on the fires I had not heard of your flooding. Praying!
God Bless you today!

I'm sorry that the flooding is affecting your dad. The cleanup is no fun, I'm sure. Hope you guys have a restful 4th.

I relate to being behind with photo albums. :-( I just recently finished scrapbooks for my daughter's high school years (and she just finished her first year in college, ha). But now that I'm done with those, maybe eventually I'll get back to my regular pictures. I'm just SO behind now that it's almost overwhelming to think about trying to catch up. I'll probably just start with 2013 and go from there. The "missing years" are all on Facebook now anyway. ha.

Hope all is going well with cleaning out the basement with your dad today! You're a good daughter.
