Mid-December Faves

Here we are into mid-December and in one week it will be Winter Solstice and the start of the Winter season, plus our youngest daughter's 20th birthday!  Just where does this time go??  It seems so fleeting.....

Let's pause in these  busy days and reflect back on the week to find FIVE things we are grateful for and that brought a smile to our faces. Then head over to Susanne's at Living to Tell the Story to link up and read more.

  • WRAPPED GIFTS:  All of the gifts I bought for my family and some extended family and co-workers are wrapped.  I spent Saturday afternoon working on them and everything is either delivered (work) or under the tree waiting for 12/23 and 12/25.  I'm glad this is done so I can relax for most of the evenings the rest of the month. I'm thankful for the time to do this and for the Christmas music playing in the background while I wrapped.

  • BIRTHDAY TREATS:  Last Sunday, the 9th, was my birthday.  I'm in my last year of being in my 50s!  How in the world is that possible?!  Dave took me out for a very early breakfast at a fave local diner where I indulged in French toast on Challah bread. Oh my.  And then we went to the church at 9 a.m. for the 2nd Advent service.  Then I came home after running an errand, and did some reading and then took a  nice walk in the sunshine.  Here's a couple of photos from my afternoon. For dinner, Dave made his famous homemade veggie pizza.  It was so yummy! and our youngest called me and my oldest gave me a beautiful card.  I'm thankful for my wonderful family and a nice relaxing day.

  • MOVIE NIGHT:  I had another movie night on Sunday evening.  I really like Whoopi Goldberg and saw that there was a family-friendly movie on Netflix.  So I watched it and it was so cute!  Just a light flick with a feel good story.  The little boy in the movie was so adorable.  I'm thankful for good movies that are clean and wholesome.

  • NEW MEDICAL PRACTICE:  My doctor (general practitioner) whom I've had for the last 20 years, retired in June.  I really will miss her and started thinking I want to get out of that particular medical practice, mainly because they refuse to do physicals after 1 pm!  They have a really good urgent care and my own doctor there was excellent but once she retired I had decided to move on.  Well, this past week I discovered a new-to-me practice that's been in town but I always thought it was just an urgent care.  They are not AND they do physicals every day of the week (except for Sundays) up until 6 pm and on Saturdays!!  It's a dream for working people.  So I'm having my medical records transferred there and will visit one of the female doctors next month.  I'm so excited to meet her.
  • HOME!  Claire arrived home safely last night!  She had to call AAA from the university parking lot as her car battery had died.  Once they got her all set, she packed up her car and drove the 4.5 hours back here to NYS.  Her finals are done, we are waiting for her grades to be released, and she is happy to be on vacation until the J term class begins the day after Christmas.  It's an online course so she gets to be home with us for the entire 5 weeks of vacation.  I'm really thankful she made it home safely down the NH coastline and across MA and into NY. And I'm thankful the car didn't have any more issues!!
That wraps up my faves for the past week.

I hope whatever you have planned for this 3rd weekend of the Advent season, that you have great peace, joy and some time to relax.

So glad made it home safe and sound! It really is hard on us Mom's when our daughters are travelling alone. Wow, you are inspiring me to get to the wrapping! I have a few more gifts to get and then I'm done. We are really simplifying the amount of gifts this year so it should be a bit easier. Sounds like your birthday was lovely. Female doctors are harder to come by in my city and when there is a new one they immediately fill up! I still miss my female doctor from years ago.

Good work on the wrapping! I've got a good bit done but still have more to do. Belated happy birthday! Glad it was such a good day for you! It's hard to change doctors, but I hope the new one is a good fit for you. We're going through that with our eye doctor's office. The one we usually saw retired, and the one we saw after him moved to a pediatric practice. The one who is left missed my husband's detached retina a few years ago, so we do not want to go to him! My husband has to wade through his insurance information and find a new one. So glad Claire arrived home safely!

You are more organised than me! I've almost finished shopping but none of my presents are wrapped yet. Glad Claire made it home okay and belated birthday wishes. Enjoy the weekend.

Hello Faith. I really like your beautiful new background and your profile picture is very nice! You've had a wonderful week of blessings! A belated Happy Birthday wish to you! Your day sounded wonderful! I'm so glad that things have worked out for you where changing medical practices are concerned. I hope when you meet the new doctor that you are a perfect match! Having the same doctor for 20 years would make it hard for me to find a new doctor.
I'm so glad that Claire made it home safely. And YAY that she gets to spend the entire five weeks of vacation at home with you! Merry Christmas (in case I don't get to post anymore before then). xx
