WINTER SOLSTICE faves:

Happy Winter Solstice!

And Happy almost Christmas.

And Happy Birthday to my youngest girl.......she is no longer a teenager...this morning around 4:22 a.m. she turned 20 years old!  How is that even possible?

This leads me to the weekly FFF where we share five of our blessings from the past week because intentionally looking for things to be grateful for keeps our focus on God who is the giver of all things.

Feel free to jump in and share some faves, then link up over at Susanne's site.

  • MILD WEATHER:  yes, this makes my list because so far, we are heading into Winter with mild weather here in eastern New York.  We have no snow except in the higher elevations and the temps have hovered around high 30s and low 40s.  I'm loving it and am thankful for it.

  • LUNCH DATE: I had to run an errand to the town library last weekend and Claire wanted to go with me so afterwards, we stopped for lunch at the new crepe place in town.  She got the veggie (vegan) one and I decided to try a sweet one as I'd had 3 savory ones in the last month.  I ordered the banana chocolate truffle one (minus the yogurt) and the gelato was amazingly smooth and the bananas were so thinly sliced I couldn't believe it.  It was amazing and Claire loved her crepe.  I'm thankful for a great place to eat that is affordable and that is NOT a burger joint!

  • TEXT FROM DAVE:  to inform me that he was getting a Christmas bonus in his next paycheck. It's not as much as in years past but we're thankful for it as we foresee some car issues with one of the daughters' vehicles! And if not, then we will save it for vacation next summer. It was a nice surprise as we weren't expecting one this year at all.

  • SURPRISE CHECK:  I had a birthday fundraiser on my Facebook page for the school (a non-profit agency) I work for.  Because we are not a public school, we have to have a lot of fund raisers to earn money for playground equipment, etc.  (Back when I taught in the 1980s-mid 1990s there was grant money for that).  My father-in-law gifted our agency with a large sum of money.  Three of my friends also gifted us with a nice check.  I'm thankful for these generous family and friends.

  • TIME TO REFLECT:  this past week I have had several opportunities to reflect on some things/friendships/prayer needs.  I'm thankful for quiet evenings near the Christmas trees with the lights shining softly and all of my housework done so that I CAN do this.  It's important to take time to just think on CHRISTmas during this very busy month. I'm looking forward to the Christmas vacation but I do savor these quiet evenings when I can get them.
that wraps up my week.

I hope you all enjoy the Christmas holiday......I'm officially on vacation as of 2 pm today and am looking forward to spending time with my daughters, my husband, my extended family (my 3 younger sisters and their families) and the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service.

I'm glad your weather has not been bad! That crepe place sounds scrumptious. Yay for Christmas bonuses! Glad the fundraiser went well.

Faith, your week sounds wonderful...especially the faves that brought in money through your husband's bonus and your father-in-law's generous donations for your school, as well as the friends who also gave toward that endeavor. Such a blessing from the hand of God.

I love sitting with the lights on the tree turned on and quiet time to just rest and think about all that Christ has done for us.

Have a very blessed Christmas, my friend.

It's very mild temperature wise here too, though the wind has been absolutely horrendous some days. It's looking like a brown Christmas for us. But that's good for my kid's that will be driving the highways coming home for Christmas. And it's also good because our furnace gave up the ghost yesterday! So I'm thankful for the boring brown. LOL.

Happy birthday to Claire! Wow, 20 years old. They've kinda grown up on here.

Merry Christmas to you and your family, Faith!
