It's been a full week. I'm taking a break to pause, breathe, and reflect on the FIVE things that made my week special. There were actually more than five but I'm going to share the top five blessings....faves...and then link up at Susanne's where I can read what other people are thankful for. Won't you join us? If you don't want to write a blog post, share something in the comment section!
Hope and I near West Stony Creek southern Adirondacks October 2016 |
- BREAKFAST DATE: My sister Hope is 5 years younger than me (she's on the left in the photo above) and we are always in touch via phone calls or the Messenger app. We decided to meet for breakfast half-way between our homes (she lives about an hour and 20 minutes west of me) at a fave diner we both like. It was really good to get together with her. If you think of it, please lift her up in prayer as she is having a health issue. Thank you. I'm thankful we had this time together and I'm thankful she's my "Avon lady!". They sell the BEST multi-vitamins that are actually plant-based!!
- DINNER....and a LUNCH DATE! Dave totally surprised me Saturday. While I was out with my sister, he texted me to say he was going to cook dinner for us. Our oldest daughter was in NYC for the day and it would just be him and I. He said he'd cook and then we'd watch a Netflix movie together after he finished the taxes. I was thrilled! A night off from cooking! He made boneless, skinless chicken breasts marinated with some Italian seasonings, a cheesy risotto (mushrooms for him on the side), and some broccoli. It was so good! And then after church on Sunday, I was saying how I was craving a bison burger and thought maybe we'd run to the market to get some fresh bison but instead he took me to this diner where they have the BEST bison burgers! It was fun to do this spontaneous lunch date. I'm thankful we had a good weekend together.
- COLOR! On Monday afternoon after work, as I was walking across the yard picking up sticks, I noticed that these two little crocuses were up and blooming. Oh how thankful I was to see this spot of color among the old leaves, mulch and mud.
the swing is ready and the backyard is raked! |
- YARD WORK! No, yard work (raking old leaves that fell after the first of November, picking up sticks, bagging old mulch and wiping down deck furniture) is NOT a blessing....however, the end result is the fave. Sunday was gorgeous although a bit cloudy. When Dave and I got home from our lunch date, we changed and worked together to ready the yard for spring. I raked while he bagged. We still need to get some fresh mulch and I still need to get flowers for the front and deck but at least the yard work is done and the swing is ready for reading/sitting. In fact,, when we were done, I sat in the sun and read for 35 minutes. I'm thankful for this chore being done!
sunset over our neighborhood 8 April 2019 |
- PRETTY SUNSET! After dinner earlier this week, Dave and I took a walk throughout the entire neighborhood which really only comes to be 1.5 miles. The blessing is that Dave wanted to walk and get some exercise (he needs to lose some weight and work his heart muscle) and I love to walk after dinner as it's a great way to get some extra steps in, stay fit and I just love nature and fresh air. All we needed were light sweatshirts....it was such a lovely evening and as we were turning the corner I turned around and saw this gorgeous sunset. The photo doesn't do it justice....it was much more spectacular in person. I'm thankful for evening walks and pretty sunsets!
What made you smile??
