Can you believe it's May?
I'm happy to be back into the routine of work and that the children all came back to preK ready to learn and without losing too many skills over the Spring Break.
I'm also thankful for other things from this past week so will share FIVE of them by linking up at Susanne's site with others who find things to be thankful for, too. How about joining us?

Mills Park Falls Lake Luzerne 25 April 2019 |
- ROAD TRIP! On the last day of Spring Break, my friend Ingrid just happened to have the day off from work so we went on a rather spontaneous road trip with our Adirondack 102 Challenge books and my new Adirondack 50 Falls Challenge book. (We stopped in Saratoga for lunch at this place first which was super yummy. I hadn't been there in a couple of years and had forgotten just how amazing their sandwiches are.) Our goal was to get signatures from the towns of Greenfield, Corinth, Lake Luzerne and Hadley. And we did! In fact, because it was a weekday, the town centers were open so we not only got signatures but we also received the gold seals or stamps! We also stopped at Mills Park Falls to snap a couple of pics. The ground was very muddy and slippery so we couldn't get close for great shots. Then we headed south via Lake George and stopped there to get the two required seals: one for the village and one for the town. After that, we headed to the nationally famous ice cream stand for the first of the season soft serve. Ingrid had a cone and I had mine in a dish. It was delish! I'm thankful we had such a fun day even though it was chilly and rainy most of the time we were in the mountains.

GOLD BERRIES! |
- NEW BERRIES! Courtney and I were grocery shopping together for a few items over the weekend and we discovered these Gold Berries. We've never seen them let alone tasted them. We bought a pint and wow.....they are amazing! She googled them and discovered they are native to Peru and are considered a "super-food" due to the heart health benefits. We've been enjoying them all week in our lunches at work. I'm thankful for God creating such yummy, healthful fruit.
- SPECIAL CARD: Dave and I received a thank you card in the mail this week, with a personal note from someone we know. We didn't expect a "thank you" and we were glad to be a part of her journey but the personal note really made me smile and thank God for her, plus it's fun to get mail when usually all we get are bills and junk.
new kitchen cabinet |
- NEW CABINET: The new microwave and cabinet I ordered before Easter was delivered and put together and now my kitchen is done! The old cabinet was one of those particle board ones that served us well in our "newlywed days" but it was 24 years old and getting warped. The white was super dingy looking but once I cleaned it up, it looked good enough to give away. My neighbor actually wanted it for her daughter's dorm room. So we didn't have the hassle of hauling it away. This new one is a bit darker grey than I was anticipating but it seems to go ok with the barn red and honey-milk paints that are on the wall. It also forced me to re-arrange some pots and pans and get rid of some junk that had been in the old cabinet. I'm thankful we had the time to get this checked off the "to do" list.
- FRESH CUT GRASS: My husband finally had a chance to mow the yards on Monday evening for the first time this year. There's nothing like the scent of fresh cut grass in the Spring. I just love it and am thankful he was able to get that chore done before the weekend!
there are always many things to be thankful for.....but those make my faves from the last week.....
Enjoy the weekend!

I had never heard of those berries, either. Interesting! It's wonderful that someone took the time to say thank you, and even sent a note. The cabinet looks nice! Fresh-cut grass makes me sneeze, even when my husband or son come in from cutting it and have the scent on their clothes. But I love the way it looks.
Sounds like a great day out making progress on your challenges. The ice cream definitely looks delicious. I like the cabinet. Very practical. I enjoy receiving cards and letters too. Much better than junk mail and bills lol. Enjoy your weekend
Love golden berries. I like them dried like raisins too. So good. Your cabinet looks nice with that red carpet. That ice cream looks really good. Sounds like it was a fun day working towards your challenges. We haven't mowed the lawn yet but I do love the smell.
Gold berries--I will have to look for them! Thanks for the heads up.
Your trip to check off all those places and hikes sounds like it was a good day.
