Even the Birds.....

I have a bird feeder just like this one pictured.  And yes, we get many cardinals, jays, chickadees and sometimes woodpeckers at it.

My favorites are the cardinals and blue-jays.

The other day I was watching them and all of a sudden an image of how we are as Believers digging into the Word popped into my mind.

The cardinal (there was a female on the ground under the feeder) was at the feeder like this one.

The blue-jay was sitting in the branches of our maple....sort of like this one

and I thought....that blue-jay wants to swoop in and eat at the feeder but he's watching the cardinal......
sure enough...as soon as the blue-jay opened his mouth in his famous "jay" call, the cardinal swooped down to the female while the blue-jay landed on the feeder to eat.

All three birds were partaking of the fresh seed I had put into the feeder just a couple days before.

These birds thrive all year long in the North-East. They are especially active in the autumn and winter when the grackles and crows are not around.

They reminded me of how when we feast on the Word....our Daily Bread....we thrive, too.

God wants us in His Word daily because it is our sustenance for  spiritual growth.

It's how we thrive as Christians. It's how we hear direction from the Lord.  It helps us to read the words of Jesus and chew on them.  He's the Bread of Life and Living Water.  We need Him to continue this walk. We become intimate with Jesus when we spend time with Him and one of the best ways is to spend time in His Word.....meditating on the Scriptures, praying through the Scriptures, memorizing them.

Even the birds know when to eat to help them thrive.........

Are you feeding on the Word this week??

I absolutely love when God uses the nature He created to teach us spiritual lessons to apply to our own lives. Who says there is no God? This is one of my goals this year, is to be in the Word daily. Without the Word we can get so easily steered off course by all the voices that are shouting oh, so loudly in this day and age.

Oh I know Susanne. I have no trouble being in the Word daily. My goal is to be more intentional in the actual meditating on the Scriptures and looking for those God moments...like this bird thing!!

I enjoyed this, Faith. I'm so glad I was encouraged as a young Christian to make it a habit to be in the Word daily. It has sustained and strengthened me all these years.
