Wow...here we are into December already! The last month of 2020.
Time to share five of our fave blessings from the past week. I do this with other like-minded folks and then we all link up at Susanne's site. Finding things that we're grateful for is an intentional endeavor. It is good to give thanks!

the nativity from the 1960s |
- FIXED! Courtney, our oldest daughter, surprised me Saturday afternoon by fixing the broken nativity. Dave broke it accidentally 2 years ago and I was crushed. It was from my childhood and Mom used to put it out every December in our living room. How I loved this little nativity. When she died, my dad gave it to me! She managed to use her artsy skills and tools to fix it and it's just as good as new except for a small crack in the back. I'm so thankful for my kind girl.

The tree is in the family room this year! |
- DECORATING! Because we didn't have to travel to MA this year for Thanksgiving, I had 3 days to decorate the house, the front porch, the windows, and get the tree up. Dave doesn't help at all because he's totally not into decorating. Courtney, our oldest, actually loves getting the tree together and has color-coded all the light extensions, etc. Then we listen to Christmas music while adding the ornaments. I do the house, a little bit in each room. This year I did a couple of nature-based items as shown in the picture. This one actually is on our trash bin top as it matches our barn red/cream kitchen. I'm thankful that the house looks festive even though we haven't had snow yet!

special card |
- MAIL! I love receiving cards and letters in the mail and this week I received this pretty card and a letter from my blogging friend and prayer partner, Deb! Her blog is titled "A Day in the Life". It was so sweet of her to send me this card. I also received our first Christmas card and letter from my cousin Trisha (she is also a member of my Book Group). I am thankful for online friends whom I hope to meet one day and for extended family who are also friends.
PRAYER SUPPORT AND CONVERSATION: I've needed prayer this past week for an issue and I've definitely felt the support. I'm thankful for friends, blogging friends, and family who pray for me when I need it and they know I will pray for them, too when needed. I also had a wonderful conversation with a couple of friends this week whom I hadn't heard from in a while and my spiritual mentor Monica sent me an encouraging text. My friend Cindy sent me a Scripture and all of these gestures are ones I am very thankful for. I also had a great conversation with my husband one evening on the couch in the family room, just sharing concerns and we talked about some spiritual matters and I'm just so thankful we had this time.

NETFLIX! This past week, as I've baked and folded laundry, I've watched this movie. It's phenomenal. Glenn Close is simply amazing in her acting ability. She's just incredible in this grandmother role. The movie is very moving and tells of quite a story based on one man's life in a tough family and tough socio-economic situation. I really liked this movie and am thankful I watched it. (you just have to overlook the use of the F word but hey....it definitely shows that type of demographic/people). It's so well done. I highly recommend it. I've decided to pass on reading the book.
That wraps up my first week of December.
I'm thankful it's the weekend and that by the time I get home from work today (I get to leave the classroom at 1 pm on Fridays!!) our youngest daughter should be home for her Winter Break from UNH!!!
Have a great weekend of relaxation.

I love the simple but elegant Christmas decorations you have in your home, Faith. It all looks great. As I said on Facebook last night, I really appreciate your staying in touch - cards, emails and messages are all great ways to stay in touch "beyond the blog." Hope you have a good weekend.
We watched that movie this week too. Really enjoyed it.
It's fun to have someone who enjoys decorating with you for Christmas. My husband really likes doing the lights outside, and I do the inside. How nice that your daughter fixed your nativity set.
We are watching the movie this weekend. We listened to the book on a road trip a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it.
I'm glad you can find support when you need it. Your tree and lights etc look lovely. Hoping to get ours up this weekend. (Provided I can persuade hubby to get the stuff down from the garage storage area! He prefers to have nothing to do with it too! lol) Enjoy your reunion with your daughter and the rest of the weekend.
Wonderful that your daughter was able to fix your mother’s nativity. Your home looks beautiful. I love all the natural decorations and the tree is so pretty. It’s sweet that you were able to decorate with your daughter. They grow so fast and before you know it they’re not decorating with you anymore. What a treat to be able to spend that time together.
What a sweet thing to do for your daughter to fix the nativity. Even the crack will have good memories now.
Encouraging words are so important, aren't they? When I read this, I remembered that I need to text and encourage a couple of people.
Your decorations are so cheerful!
So happy for you that Courtney was able to use her skills and fix that precious nativity. Good thing you hung onto it. Your tree and porch look lovely. I'm doing that this weekend. Pretty unmotivated to do it this year with everything going on in my life right now but I'm going to make myself hoping I get in the mood. I think not having any of my kids around to help this year and make it enjoyable is part of it, also. I love getting things in the mail other than bills! So sweet that you share cards and fun things. Praise God for prayer support and good conversation. Huge blessings!
So glad Courtney was able to fix the Nativity! We did our decorating, too, Thanksgiving weekend. I was not feeling like Christmas before, but I am now--decorations and music help a lot. So glad you had the prayer support and encouragement when you needed it. I know you're excited to have Claire home!
