End of January Faves

It's the last Friday of January!  This month usually drags for me but for some reason, this year, it went by so fast!!  I'm taking time today to reflect back on the week and share FIVE of my FAVE blessings.  I do this with a community of women who all link up at Susanne's site.  Check us out!

FIVE FAVES

  • NETFLIX:  So thankful for Netflix and Hulu.  I'm currently watching Handmaid's Tale with my oldest girl Courtney on Hulu and my new-to-me fave series on Netflix is Last Tango in Halifax.  I'm almost done with Season 1.  LOVE the characters.  So thankful for these options because I cannot stand most programs on television and in the winter I like to watch movies and good shows.  TV is lacking but these instant streaming services are rocking the shows!

Claire and her "big" Christmas gift:
Vegan spring shoes from England
  • SAFE TRAVELS!  Claire was home from mid-December until this past Monday morning for her combination Winter/Early Spring break.  UNH has decided it is safer for the students to stay on campus from now until finals/graduation.  So no real Spring Break for them.  Claire left the house about 20 minutes before I needed to Monday morning.  She woke up at 5:30, packed her car, I prayed over her, Dave and I hugged on her, and off she went for the 4 hour drive east then north to NH and her final semester as an undergraduate!  I'm so thankful she made it to her on-campus apartment safely and with no car issues.

  • WINTER BEAUTY:  I love all the seasons but in the winter around here, it can be crazy.  Weather can change so quickly in the Great Northeast and boy it sure did this month.  The month began so mild...no snow and temps much warmer than usual which is why I did so many walks/hikes in nature preserves in our region.  Then bitter cold temps arrived in the teens and 20s and yet still no snow.  Then Tuesday afternoon into evening, we received about 4 inches total, just enough to delay the start of school/work on Wednesday morning (a perk of being a teacher!). I loved how the sky looked Tuesday morning, and I loved the purity of Wednesday morning.  I'm thankful I live where there are truly 4 different seasons.

  • PEACH PRESERVES:  I found one of my fave jams/preserves at Target of all places! This is our favorite brand and I happened to also find it in peach which is one of my very fave flavors.  I've been enjoying this product on rice cakes as an after work-out snack; I love it with almond butter on my 7 grain waffles or on the oat bread I am currently enjoying for breakfast some mornings.  I'm thankful for this yummy jam...it's like tasting a little bit of summer on a cold winter's morning.

  • MICROFIBER SHEETS!  I discovered these sheets this past autumn and I said "wow...these are perfect for winter nights" so I bought some for our Queen-sized bed in a pretty teal blue (to match our walls and some of the decor).  Well, I was hoping they'd be on sale after Christmas and they were!  I bought these flowery ones pictured above and they remind me of the Spring that is to come.  Microfiber sheets are cooler than flannel sheets and warmer than pure cotton.  We don't need blankets with these sheets....just our down comforter.  I'm thankful for sales and pretty patterns and coziness at night.
That wraps up a few of the blessings God brought into my life this past week.

What are some of your fave blessings?? please do share one!

I hope you have a relaxing weekend staying safe and warm!

Hi Faith - I think I will see if Target still has some of those microfiber sheets. Those sound great. So glad your daughter made is safely back to school for her final semester. Wow, where does the time go? Our kids do grow up so quickly. I love living where there are four seasons as well. Sixteen years in the Arizona heat was too long for me...the temperatures start getting uncomfortably warm in about April, and stay that way until late October or November. We are supposed to get some snow tonight and tomorrow, which I will enjoy because I won't have to drive anywhere. Hope your Friday goes well. See you again soon.

Glad Claire made it back to school safely. One college I know of did that last semester--they didn't have a fall break so students didn't have to deal with getting home and back. I think they started a bit earlier and then went home from Thanksgiving until mid-January. I don't know if they are doing the same for spring, but it makes sense. I'm glad you found the peach preserves and sheets you like at a good price.

Ooh, those sheets are sooo pretty! I love that cheerful print. It would be hard for me to have to give up any one of the four seasons. I'm grateful to live in a place where we can enjoy them all. Glad that Claire made it safely back to school. Happy Friday!

Glad Claire made it back safely. I'm sure you'll be missing her, especially with no spring break. We like that brand of jam too! We've had snow too this week but only a couple of centimetres. It's gone now but more is promised this weekend. I too am glad of the 4 seasons. Enjoy your weekend.

I’m glad your daughter made it safe to UNH. I absolutely love that brand of peach preserves! I always have it in the fridge. Jammy toast is my favourite snack and even more so when I have those peach preserves. Love the sheets. I have two sets. One is is soft cream colour that my mum gave us and one is a light grey colour that was made in Portugal and was rather expensive but it so comfy. I wish I needed another set because I love the flowers.

Our grocery store here in SC started selling that brand of jam - right when I found out I was diabetic. :-) Oh well!!! Always hard to send a child off for an extended period of time. Hope she has a great semester. --Ann

Those are pretty shoes Claire got. Glad to hear she made it safe and sound. No matter how old the kids get I still have to make a pointed effort not to worry about them when they are on the highways. I love living in a 4 season area too. Our January started out milder too but this week has been cold and we've woken to 2 days of gorgeous hoar frost set against pure blue skies. That jam sounds delicious. I love getting new sheets! But I do like my cotton. I have some microfiber jammies and I do find they get too hot by morning.

I'm glad Claire made it safely back to campus. How can it be that she is graduating from college already??
As I am typing this, it is snowing here. We have at least three inches right now and then later today, it is supposed to turn to rain. (Will you get this storm tomorrow?)
I love my flannel sheets! I need the warmth.
Enjoy a restful day!
