INAUGURATION WEEK FAVES!

Friday!!

After a crazy, busy week!!

The highlight for me as a progressive Evangelical Christ-follower was the Inauguration!  FINALLY.  A team of people with class, grace, intelligence, and compassion. A Catholic and his teacher spouse; a Woman of Color as VP AND her Jewish husband...all  together in the White House!  People we can be proud of as Americans to say they are our leaders.  They have a lot of work ahead of them to turn this nation around.  I'm praying for them.

I'm also pausing a bit today to share FIVE of my FAVE blessings from the past week.  I have many blessings.  Here are FIVE of my FAVEs.  Join in with us and then link up over at Susanne's site where you can see who all is participating.

  • GIRLS MOVIE NIGHT!  My oldest daughter wanted a DVD for Christmas of a movie she had seen in college.  The rest of us had never seen it. Hubby wasn't interested so she arranged for us to have a "girls movie night" on Sunday as our youngest daughter hasn't returned to UNH yet.   It was a fun evening with drinks and popcorn, and an excellent movie. Wes Anderson has some great works.  Highly recommend this stunning cast and story. I'm thankful the 3 of us had this evening together.

  • WOODS WALKS: Monday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon (solo on Monday and with my friend Gerri on Wed) I was able to get to the woods near the airport and hike the trails in the Ann Lee Pond nature area. Sunday I ended up hiking 2 miles in the sleet! I got lost at one point and couldn't find the trail extension (it's a new part) so had to backtrack and it started to sleet. Wednesday when Gerri and I were there, it was partly sunny (I was so busy takling and walking fast I neglected to take photos) but so cold!!  A frigid 22 degrees!  We power walked through the woods for 50 minutes before returning to our cars.  I'm thankful for time in the woods. It's getting down to the low 20s and upper teens this weekend so I'll probably not return to walking outdoors until a bit warmer.

  • EASY DAYS:  We've (the special education team I teach on) had some easy teaching days this week.  We started back after being on a 10 day quarantine.   Of course Monday was a holiday due to MLK, Jr day.  Tuesday and Wednesday were very easy days with just 7 students. All came back to the routine easily except for one little guy.  Yesterday was a bit tougher as 2 more came back and had difficulty getting back into the school routines. But thankfully my language lessons went well and these particular students aren't in my group so my days were rather easy. I'm thankful for fun days in special education prek and for a great team of women I teach with. The bonus with this fave is that I also received an excellent performance review and a personal message from the executive director that she watched all the google classroom videos I created for the students to participate in at home and she loved them. This is huge coming from her.  I'm so thankful for her and her leadership and feedback!  It's nice to be noticed in education.

  • GOOD REPORT:  I'm thankful my bi-annual ( I only have to go every other year due to being low risk) mammogram was normal!

  • YOUNG POET: If you haven't heard her poem yet that she recited for the Inauguration, I highly suggest that you do. Yes, even if you are a Trump fan. You most of all.  You need these words.  We all need these words. You can find the video here.

That wraps up my faves of the week.

If you think of it and you believe in the power of prayer, please do lift up our youngest daughter Claire in prayer on Monday morning as she heads back to UNH for her final semester of undergraduate school!!  Thank you!

I hope you all are staying healthy and safe.  Enjoy a relaxing weekend!

Amen and amen to everything in this post, Faith. I love it all. I am going to have to see if I can find that movie. So glad you have a good team where you teach. Teaching can be so challenging when you feel like you are just "going it alone." I totally agree with you about the new administration and felt like that inauguration was so inspiring, uplifting and unifying. Praying for President Biden and Vice President Harris. Have a good weekend.

Glad you had an easy work week after the quarantine and well done on getting good feedback from your boss. Teachers are having it so hard right now trying to meet the needs of all their students and cope with this pandemic so well done you. I watched the inauguration on TV here and that poem was outstanding. Enjoy your weekend.

The inauguration was wonderful this week. I agree that it is wonderful to have all those different types of people representing America.

For walking or hiking around the weather is too bad, cold, humid and windy ! So we stay home. I have seen part of the ceremony, we all like Kamela but find Biden a bit old. But I think the whole world is happy that Clown Trump had nearly to be thrown out of the White House, he was glued on his chair, lol !

How nice that you got a couple extra woods walks in before it gets really cold. Very talented poet that young lady is. Praise God for the good health report and the easy days to ease back in to working with children! I have seen that movie around but have never watched it. We need a good movie day around here.

Hurray on getting out for 'frigid' walks. We've taken several this week. There is a beauty in the winter, too.
It is fun to have a movie night with the girls.
Enjoy your weekend!

This is my first time here and I enjoyed my visit! The young poet was great! I had my grand daughter watch the inauguration and explained the importance of it. Her teacher suggested they watch it. The young poet had a learning disability she overcame as did my grand daughter. That really impressed my 10 year old grand daughter. Nice that my grand daughter has women of color like her to look up too! I am praying too!
