What. a. week.
It's been crazy and chaotic, but I take comfort in the Truth that God loves me, He gives me something to be grateful for every single day, and if I can't think of anything, I have His Peace, Love, Hope, and Joy. And those things?? VERY grateful for them.
Let's pause in this crazy busy time and share FIVE of our FAVE moments, things, people, etc. I do this by linking up at Susanne's site with other grateful bloggers. Head on over here to participate or learn more.
- HELP! SO very grateful that my oldest daughter Courtney popped in for dinner Monday evening after work and to help my husband and Claire move 3 bedrooms worth of stuff downstairs to be ready for Tuesday's Carpet Install Day! I really appreciate that the girls took time from their own busy weeks to help with this. I can't lift heavy furniture any longer so it was much appreciated. (the installers did move the beds, and heavier pieces like the 4 dressers). I'm thankful for my family.

Dave's new "office" |
- NEW CARPETING! Tuesday and Wednesday were the days the carpet installers came to do the upstairs hallway, stairs and all 3 bedrooms. Courtney's old room is now an office for Dave as he is still required to work from home. The room isn't completed yet with the coastal theme or other items but at least he has a quiet place to work now OUT of our bedroom! I LOVE the new color: Sea Salt (a light grey). It replaces colonial blue (dusty rose in our master bedroom...so 1990s!!) I'm also thankful the installers told us about the "hollywood effect" for stairs. We had the traditional "Waterfall effect" where the carpet isn't wrapped under the riser and I never did like it but it's what the builders did for these colonial homes when we built ours. The hollywood effect is much neater looking, I think. We've learned alot about carpeting throughout this 2 month process. I'm thankful it is done and that all of the rooms in our house (except the half bath) have upgraded flooring (bamboo, stone, tile and carpet).
- WALKING OUTDOORS: We've had such a mild autumn and now that we're into December, it is still rather mild for this part of the state as well as for being only 18 days from Winter. Yesterday after work, I was able to get outdoors between rain storms and walk for a little over a mile. It felt great. I love how the little wooded area by the historic cemetery in our neighborhood looks......all the leaves have fallen, the town has picked them up, and the woods look ready for the coming winter. I also love how some leaves looked in the puddle I had to skirt....the skies were clearing for a bit....they look so golden......I'm thankful for time outdoors in nature.
- SNAIL MAIL! Getting mail is something that happens just about every day but it's usually bills or junk or the occasional hiking magazine I subscribe to. (the digital version isn't as in-depth). But this week I received my first birthday card (it's not until next week but I do love getting cards any time!) from Deb my blogging buddy from Utah and we received our first 2 Christmas cards! One from our across the street neighbors and one from my cousin and her husband. I'm thankful for little things like cards that bring a smile to my face.
- SAFE! Our oldest girl called my husband while he was at a church meeting last evening, and said she had been in an accident. She wasn't hurt at all for which I am VERY thankful. She was driving home in the dark after work in the middle of a horrible thunderstorm. She hit a large trash bin that was in the middle of the road and that she didn't see until it was too late. Because she couldn't swerve out of the way (heavy commuter traffic on a 55 mph road) she did quite a bit of damage to the front corner of her Kia. I'm praying that when Dave takes her to the dealer today that they can fix this for her and that our insurance will let her get a rental car. These things are annoyances but God is good and she is safe and I'm super thankful for that!
That wraps up my week. How about you? Was yours as crazy as mine was??
Whatever you have planned for the weekend, I hope you relax and enjoy every moment. I plan on getting our Christmas tree up, doing the rest of the holiday decor and maybe baking a batch of cookies to freeze until our Family Gathering.
HAPPY WEEKEND!

Hi Faith. The carpet looks lovely! Wow, what a difference something like new carpet can make in our perspective. It really does look nice. Great colors, and I love how they did your stairs. So glad Courtney was safe and I hope her car can be repaired quickly! Temperatures are still mild here too, but the forecast is for winter storms to move in next week, just hours after I get back from Denver. Hope you have a good weekend. :-)
So glad your daughter is ok. I'm sure sorting out the car will be a hassle but worst case scenario a car can be replaced, your daughter can't. It must have been scary for her. The carpet looks great and you must be glad to have it all done and finished. I'm hoping to get my Christmas decorating done this weekend too.
Oh I'm glad your daughter is ok even if the car isn't. Hopefully all went well at the dealership.
I always enjoy 'walking with you' on your nature walks. Autumn is such a lovely season for being outdoors in nature.
I like your new carpet. We have the Hollywood style, too.
Enjoy your weekend!
So glad your daughter is ok. I don't like driving in storms, especially at night. I hope the insurance is fair. I love snail mail from friends, too. How nice to have new carpeting! It's great to have help with big projects like that.
There was a trash bin in the middle of the road, wow so glad that Courtney is not hurt. That would have been scary in the midst of a storm. The carpeting is lovely. It's so nice when the home gets a refresh. I like the "hollywood" effect. Glad you had the girls and the installers give you a hand with the moving of the furniture. It's always fun to get things in the mail that aren't bills or advertising.
