2022 Goals: Check-Up #2

So every other month this calendar year, I am reviewing my 2022 goals and seeing where I'm at with them.  The words in green (below) are my updates.

PHYSICAL/HEALTH GOALS

Overall Goal:  Hike in the High Peaks and Eastern Regions of the ADKS

(I tend to stick to the southern or central regions as they are more known to me)

  • Hike 2 mountains in the High Peaks Region :  not time yet!  I don't hike the higher mountains in the Winter months or in mud season.
  • Hike 3 trails/mountains in the Eastern Region (all new-to-me) I have hiked 1 new trail in the eastern region since January and that was this past Saturday!  I hiked the "easy" part of Dean Farm Heritage Nature Center.  I now have 2 new to me trails left. I do want to go back to this new to me nature center and do the harder loops across the road.  A local told me to avoid it this time of year due to much mud and ice. Hiking in deep mud  can actually harm a trail.
  • Find 4 waterfalls that I haven't seen yet, listed in the 50 Falls Challenge for the high peaks region (Not time yet due to Mud Season)
  • Plan 4-6 hiking events with the Fitness Friends group I have planned 3 hiking events with my Fitness Friends.  Our first one was this past Sat.  No one showed up except for me!
Overall Goal:  Lower my Total Cholesterol Naturally
  • power walk 5 days a week with at least 2 being outdoors in nature I am currently up to 4 days a week consistently and sometimes it's been 5 but the weather hasn't cooperated!  and I am SO DONE with using the treadmill.  I do need to take this a bit more seriously though as my blood work is due soon .
  • limit cheese intake to once a week I've had great weeks and not so great
  • continue to supplement with phytosterols/check with doc at next physical yes, I take them each evening with dinner and sometimes in the morning if I'm eating eggs or a protein that isn't plant based
  • complete my blood work by May. my doctor actually wants me to do this in April so this week I have made an appointment for the morning after Good Friday.
  • add a weights routine twice a week nope...my shoulder is still causing me grief so chiropractor has told me to hold off on this
  • drink 58 oz of water a day (yes i'm doing this almost every day)
  • fitness ball routine 4x per week before bed (this is now something I do as needed as per chiropractor's instructions).
  • continue to cook/prepare plant based meals 5x per week (yes!!)

SPIRITUAL GOALS

Overall Goal: to fully study Scripture on a deeper level/discuss with husband
  • Read 2 Major prophets/study from the Old Testament (I'm currently reading through and studying the book of Ezekiel.  I am half way done!)
  • Read through Psalms (I'm actually beginning this on Easter!)
  • Study the book of John (currently doing this via my small group Bible Study with 6 other ladies; this will be completed in May)
  • Prayer time with husband once a week (this is just beginning!)
  • Continue to lead book group until June (yes we are continuing to meet here in my home every other Monday evening)

PERSONAL/CAREER/MENTAL GOALS

Overall Goal:  get 15 credit hours in to NYS Aspire by November
  • Complete Children's Lit course by end of January (This is completed but NYS isn't sure if they will accept the credits as it wasn't a fully accredited online course; it is loaded to Aspire though and I will find out in June if it was accepted).
  • Complete one nature based course by September (this class has been  cancelled due to covid issues)
  • Participate in 3 special education workshops/early childhood classes (I have participated in 1 (last week) at work. It was regarding behaviorally challenging preschoolers with special needs.  We have 1 more scheduled  this semester....these have not been offered due to issues with meeting in person).
Overall Goal:  play piano more consistently
  • work on the Haydn Sonata 2 x per week (I was doing well with this in Feb and this month not at all!)
  • spend some time on worship music/playing/singing hymns once a week (yes I am doing this!)
Overall Goal:  spend less time on social media
  • read at least 40 books in 2022 including books of the Bible (I have read 9 fiction books since January 1st and am currently finishing up one.  I have completed a non fiction study book and am in the middle of 2 non fiction books currently).
  • start cleaning out the basement/donate/recycle old electronics This is completed!! My husband helped me with this during my Feb break...we got rid of 6 electronics (old microwave, 2 desktops, a laptop, an ipod, a cell phone) and a bunch of other items. We donated 3 large bags of clothing to our local thrift shop.

EMOTIONAL/RELATIONAL GOALS

Overall Goal: continue to establish and maintain close friendships/family ties
  • Have friends/family over for food/game nights (it's been over 5 years since we've done this!) (We had our friends Prem and Anita and their son Dylann all set to come to dinner one Sat evening in Feb and then Claire got Covid! so we cancelled.  We plan on having them over sometime in the summer as they have family visiting from India until then and we plan on having my friend Darlene and her husband Bob over for dinner in late April.
  • Have one date night twice a month with Dave (we are doing this!!)
  • Have mother-daughter date with both girls once a month (Courtney and I had TWO this past winter and Claire and I had one.  This will continue)
  • Continue to meet for coffee/lunch/walks with close friends once a month (yes, this has been happening!  My friend Darlene and I have been meeting to walk and my sister Hope and I met for breakfast a few weeks ago.  I also met my friend Diane for coffee and lunch a few weeks ago).
  • Meet with my spiritual mentor every 8 weeks for prayer. (Monica and I prayed over the phone in Feb and in early March we touched base via phone.)  We plan on getting together during my spring break and I have a dinner date with my former counselor and one of my very best friends/mentors in mid-April).

Summary:  I'm working on my goals and think they're going fairly well.  My physical goals might change depending on my yearly physical and what my doctor sees regarding my blood work.  I am praying my "bad" (LDL) cholesterol went down. I continue to be someone who does not need medications or prescriptions and for that I am most thankful. I pray it continues!! I'm also super stoked for Hiking Season to begin...once Mud Season is over (mid-April typically), I can begin to get together with my hiking friends and tackle some more mountains.  Dave and I also want to use the kayaks a bit more this spring/summer and now we have some friends who also own kayaks so that will be fun.

Do you have yearly goals?  How are you doing with yours?
