It's Friday and time to reflect back on the week and share FIVE of our FAVE blessings. Several of us link up at Susanne's site to share things we are grateful for.....Hop on over to participate!
FIVE FAVES
- SMALL GROUP MEETING! Dave and I are co-leading a small (book) group every other Friday evening here in our home, based on the book pictured below by Philip Yancey, one of our very fave Christian authors. This book is one we read together when we first joined our church, Grace Fellowship. And wow...it's a life changer and really opens up your eyes to how oh so many churches in America lack the true concept of grace. We preach about it, talk about it, but do we really embrace it?? I'm thankful our group is full (there are 4 married couples, ourselves included and 2 single ladies and 1 single man). We had a great first meeting and I'm thankful for this group.

- GAME NIGHT! Saturday evening, Courtney and her best friend Nathanael (he moved into an apartment in her same apartment complex from Maryland last month....they have been best friends since Gordon College days!) came over for pizza, drinks and to play games. We had several rounds of the rousing game of Rhino Hero Super Battle. This is actually appropriate for ages 5-adult! It's from Germany, a cooperative game, and involves creating a house of cards. Hard to explain but it was absolutely hilarious. Then we played one of Dave's faves: Agricula. This is a more strategic middle ages farming game. We ended around midnight. We're kind board game geeks. I love, and am thankful, that these millennial "kids" don't mind hanging out with us on a Saturday evening. We decided we may do a game night every month. (and it's one way to get our oldest daughter to visit!).
- FOLLOW UP! Had my follow up appointment with my ENT on Wednesday after work. We have a treatment plan going into autumn. I'm not going to go into all of that here but I had the chance to witness to her about the power of prayer and that God created our bodies to work well and let's just say she smiled and nodded and totally respected what I had to say about not overdoing it with daily meds!! I'm thankful for health insurance, good quality health care, and the power of prayer!

- AUTUMN DECOR: I started putting away the summer decor this past week and pulled out a few autumn things to freshen up the family room. I still have the living room, kitchen and dining room to do as well as finish the deck and porch. I scored the little pumpkin "cairn" on the shelf for 50% off!! I'm thankful for the new season coming up soon and for sales on fun items.
harem pants! |
from a blogger friend! |
- DELIVERIES! This past week I received my new harem pants (remember those from when a bunch of us were in our late teens in the late 1970s??) My oldest daughter had some and hooked me up with the website where she bought hers. I LOVE them. SO comfy. And the cool thing is they are one size fits all. Not sure how the company does that but it works! I thought I was too old to pull them off but I wore them to work and everyone loved them and even the ENT I saw Wednesday said "you rock those" :) I also received earlier this week a post card and real letter on a cute note card from a blogger (Deb)whom I also consider a pen pal as we write back and forth. You can find her over at this blog. I'm thankful for far away friends to share letters with and for comfy work clothes that double as lounge wear!
That wraps up my fave blessings from the week but I really need to mention a couple more: an over the decks chat with my next door neighbor whom I had barely talked with since July; sunny days, a rainy day to help with moisture for the ground, and more sunny days with cooler temps and nights to sleep with the windows open because NO Humidity!!
Whatever you do this weekend, I hope you get some rest and fun into it.
HAPPY WEEKEND!

I've read that book by Phillip Yancy and loved it. It's the perfect book to study in a small group! Love the harem pants! They do look comfortable, and I love the blue color. It's such a blessing when your young un's enjoy spending time with you. When I spend time with my youngest son and daughter in law, I feel 20 years younger! I've yet to get the fall decor out but I think I will in the next week or two. I have already had gotten my first Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks! Have a lovely weekend.
Hello! I love your autumn decor. It always makes the house so cozy, don't you think? I love the pants! Where can one find some?? Have a lovely weekend!
It sounds like a wonderful week for you! Those harem pants are so cute. (I'm betting the 'one-size' would not work for my tall frame though:( )
Snail mail is the best. I guess I need to send some in order to receive it, lol.
You fall decor is so pretty. I love the little tray with all the sweet fall decorations.
Hi Faith. Those harem pants are so cute! Your came night with Courtney and Nathanael looks like a lot of fun. I like your fun fall decor. Other than a new fall themes hanging on the front and back doors, I don't decorate much for fall. I used to put up a lot of Halloween stuff when the kids were little. Glad you had a good week. Enjoy your hike tomorrow and have a good weekend.
That's the kind of trousers I love too ! They are so comfy and you look still chic !
I think blogging changed me because I got a view inside family lives in the whole world, and sometimes even learn that our dear politicians not always say the truth.
We all love games, too. My husband doesn't as much, but he'll participate to join in the family fun. I had not heard of either of those. Glad the small group meetings are going well and you had a good visit with the ENT. The fall decor is cute. I don't know if I'll get mine out this week--I have family coming in this weekend and some house projects and cleaning to do. But I probably will soon after they leave if not before. It's always nice to get "real" mail instead of bills and ads.
My kids love to play all the games and when the uncles come to visit, they always bring a new game for the nieces and nephews to learn. I enjoy sitting around and watching them play.
Good news on the ENT visit!
I love 'real mail' too. I have a couple of non-blogger friends who I write back and forth with.
Have a good week!
Love the pants. The older I get the more it's all about comfort. How fun that Courtney and her friend joined you for a game night. I love board games and we play sometimes when the kids come down. Glad your small group has got off to a great start! I'm going to put that book on my list. Fall decor is all about the cozy. Love yours. Yay for snail mail!
