Well here it is Friday....the day before New Year's Eve. I'm sharing with other blogging friends some fave blessings from the past week. I'm sure most of you have many blessings that came your way with the Christmas holiday and time with family and/or friends. We link up at Susanne's site so head on over there to find what others are sharing about.
Dave, Courtney, Claire, Faith the Fireside Room/Grace Fellowship Church 24 December 2022 |
- CHRISTMAS EVE: Well, despite the all day head pain I had on Christmas Eve, I was able to sing just fine for all 3 services at church and enjoy time with the family all at home afterwards. The first two services were packed and our overflow room (the church gym) had to be used! For the last service at 5 pm, everyone was able to fit inside the sanctuary. The church had a wonderful luncheon catered for those of us in the choir and production teams. Once we were home, we all grabbed some raw veggies and deli meats or hummus and naan or rolls, etc and of course we had Xmas cookies and fudge to indulge in. We watched White Christmas together as that's our tradition and the girls left with promises of driving safely back to their respective apartments. I'm thankful we were all together for Christmas Eve and that the services went well.
Christmas Mimosas |
- CHRISTMAS DAY! Claire arrived in the morning in time for breakfast with us and we enjoyed some delicious mimosas and bagels with avocado, fresh fruit and of course coffee. Once Courtney arrived, we opened our gifts to each other and just had a wonderfully relaxing day together eating good food and watching A Christmas Carol. Although I had the head ache pain and neck pain, I did manage to enjoy my time with my girls and husband and I thank God for the power of prayer, for family time, and that I have a high threshold for pain!
a gift from my oldest girl Courtney...the bag made me smile |
- LEISURELY MORNINGS: I've been on vacation all week from teaching of course and the leisurely start to my day has been a huge blessing. Quiet time with God, reading good books, drinking coffee and not rushing out the door...all these things I love about not having to set an alarm and get up at 5:30 am. I'm thankful for Christmas vacation.
a nature gift from my youngest girl Claire |
- NATURE GIFT: Claire gave me a beautiful gold leaf for Christmas and the tag on it said it's a real sugar maple leaf from the Adirondacks (she bought it up at the village store where we rent a cottage every summer) specially preserved and painted by a local artist! It's just gorgeous. It went right on the tree and since I took the tree down on Tuesday, I hung it from a wall hook we have in the dining room. I just love it. I'm thankful for art in nature and for Claire thinking of me.

coffee bean candle from Lynn |
- TIME WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY: This past week, I've been able to phone chat with two of my closest friends, and go out to dinner with one friend with whom I share a December birthday. We exchanged gifts...she bought me a nice large coffee mug in a Christmas design and a candle handmade by her co-worker. It smells like a fresh cup of coffee and has real coffee beans embedded in the wax. I also had time to go visit my Uncle Cliff (he's my dad's only living sibling and lives about 30 min west of me) and his wife and stepdaughter yesterday. Uncle Cliff is now 87 but is doing very well. I'm thankful I've had this week to catch up with friends and family.
That wraps up my FIVE FAVES. What were your favorite blessings from the week? Feel free to share in the comment section.

Faith, I would ask for a referral to a neurologist at this point. I took Johnny to one when he had migraines and they did prescribe meds that helped. They can also help with a treatment plan for the neck issues which seem to be causing the headaches. It takes a long time to get in to see one at Albany Med but it’s something to consider so that you can get some relief from these awful headaches.
Yes my new primary JUST referred me to a group of headache specialists on Wed. WHen I called they told me they might not be able to take me as they are currently only taking patients with migraines or stroke victims. So... i need to wait until next week to see if they'll take me and if not get another referral. Meanwhile, I'm calling someone else to at least see if I can get in with her. A group by Albany Memorial. Thanks Erin for your input. I appreciate your prayers.
So glad you had a nice Christmas and week. I love the gifts. I have leaf tree ornament very much like that - a gift from Charly several years ago. I hope you have a good Friday!
Sounds like you've had a lovely break but sorry to hear you are still struggling with pain. Hope you can get a referral sorted out quickly. Happy New Year.
Faith, I'm so sorry that you're still having the head and neck pain. But I'm happy that you were able to enjoy the Christmas weekend despite it. Watching A Christmas Carol is one of my traditions as well. It's got to be the Alistair Sim one. My favorite. I'm praying that someone can find the cause for your pain in this coming year. Happy New Year
Praying you get in quickly with those referrals. I'm glad you were able to still enjoy your Christmas and do the choir. What a lovely leaf ornament. I've been off too and treasure the leisurely starts to the day. Wonderful that you were able to spend time with friends and family. That is the best part of time off from work.
Happy New Year to you and your family!
I'm glad you were able to sing and enjoy the Christmas celebrations with your family despite the neck pain and headaches. I pray a solution and relief is found this year. That leaf is lovely. Wishing you all the best for 2023!
