I'm participating in the Saturday 9 meme hosted by this blog.
I had NEVER heard of this performer nor the song. It's definitely not my style although I love other songs from the 1940s and 1950s. I'm guessing my mom would have known this song.
1) This song is about a couple dressed in their "Sunday Best." Will you be getting dressed up this weekend?
Of course!! It's Easter! I'm wearing a spring/summer dress I bought for my teaching job a couple years ago and I bought a new 3/4 length cropped sweater to wear with it since Easter is early this year and it's likely to be chilly. I also bought new short boots in a light tan to wear. Too early for sandals! Saturday afternoon we are going to an Easter Cantata but I'll probably just wear nice pants and a sweater.
2) The happy couple is walking up the street arm-in-arm. Have you recently seen a couple holding hands or walking arm-in-arm in public?
Yes...I have several neighbor couples who walk hand in hand and Dave and I also hold hands in public. The last time we walked arm-in-arm was for First Night in Boston.
3) This week's featured artist, Vera Lynn, was a beloved English singer who is affectionately remembered for her tireless work entertaining the troops during WWII. She famously sang "There'll Always Be an England" during outdoor concerts in Egypt, India, and Burma, even as battles raged nearby. What is your favorite patriotic song?
I would have to choose This Land is your Land for the United States and the French National Anthem for France. (La Marseillaise).
4) Though she became a celebrity at 19, Vera continued to live with her parents until she married at age 21. How old were you when you left home for good?
I was 23 years old (lived with mom and dad for a year after college) but I boomeranged back from age 25-26. Long story).
Now, here are some questions in honor of this weekend's holiday ...
5) More than 1.5 million Cadbury Creme Eggs are produced every day. Do you enjoy Cadbury Eggs all year around, only at Easter, or not at all?
We don't eat that kind of junk food.
6) Pretzels are considered a delicious Easter snack in Germany. Do you more often crave salty treats or sweet ones?
If/when I crave a snack, I typically crave some salty. Sometimes I like sweet n salty like my plant based homemade pb cups with sea salt!
7) We've been talking a lot about sweets this morning. The only holiday that generates more candy sales is Halloween. When do you eat more candy: Easter or Halloween?
We don't celebrate Halloween although we do buy candy to give to trick or treaters. If there's certain ones leftover we might indulge in a couple pieces but I usually give it to my oldest daughter or neighbors.
8) Easter is considered the season of rebirth. What makes you feel refreshed or rejuvenated?
A steaming hot shower makes me feel refreshed and rejuvenated first thing in the morning, along with a steaming mug of coffee. Later in the day, doing anything in nature makes me feel refreshed.
9) This year, April Fool's Day happens to follow Easter Sunday. Do you expect to fall victim to any pranks?
no we don't really "do" April Fool's day here. When the girls were little, I used to try to prank them that there was a snow day. They didn't usually fall for it.
This was a fun meme. Check out the link above to learn more.

Yes, showers are such a reliable way to lift your spirits, aren't they?
I'm curious why you'll eat Halloween candy but Easter candy is junk food. Isn't it all the same?
Have a happy Easter.
I have never heard of it either. This looks like fun though. May check it out next week.
This Land is Your Land — great song choice
Yes to showers and This Land is Your Land. Welcome to Saturday 9 or welcome back if you've done it before and I've forgotten. :-)
I was born in the 40s and know a lot of 40s and 50s music, but I never heard this song either.
This Land is a great song! I remember singing it with my youth group at camp or at a beach party around the fire ring. Happy Easter Faith!
