Last Week of May Faves

Can you believe it's the last day of May already?  Did anyone else out there in the FFF community feel like this month just flew? It sure seems that way to me, and I'm retired!

Let's pause on this last May day and share five of our fave blessings from the week. There's a community of us who all link up at Susanne's site so feel free to join in!

  • SAFE TRAVELS:  As some of you know, I drove out to Plymouth Co, MA to help out at my in-laws house where my husband has been working remotely and helping the hospice nurses and visiting angel helpers to care for his bed-ridden dad.  I'm thankful I had safe travels (in the pouring rain from the NYS line all the way across and down the state of MA) to their home last Thursday, and then coming back here to NYS last Saturday (a perfect spring day so easy on the Mass Pike although it took me 5 hours to get home due to a huge crawl at the Worcester exits....NOT fun). I'm thankful I was able to meet 1 of the hospice nurses and 2 of the new helpers. I also made up some meal cards for my father in law and did some light chores. I'm so thankful I went and helped and that my husband will be able to come home on Sunday.

  • SOFT SCENTS:  I love the soft scents of my tea roses and my peonies.  The peonies are so beatufiul and big this year. I moved them onto the deck table though as I noticed the scent was bothering my allergies this year. The roses have popped open beautifully and my smaller orange rose bush is just starting to open.  I'm thankful for beautiful flowers that God made.

  • BIKING AND WALKING:  I'm thankful I can ride my hybrid bike around the suburban area where I live on quiet, less-traffic mornings (like Saturdays and Sundays!) and for walks in my neighborhood.  If I do the entire neighborhood, it gives me a 1.7 mile walk.  If I add the development across the road, that's another .8 miles.  I love all the wildflowers I've seen on my rides and walks and am thankful for their delicate beauty.

  • MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: What a nice weekend it was....until the rain on Monday.  Saturday was drive home from MA for me, do laundry, get the mail, mow the yards, and relax. Sunday after church, my oldest daughter came over for grilled chicken, potato salad, watermelon salad, peach iced tea. It was just the two of us as Claire had to work until 6 and then wanted to go straight to her place to spend the evening. After dinner, we watched another episode of The Handmaid's Tale, and then in the evening, when it started to get dark, we built a fire in the firepit and made smores. I'm thankful we decided to do our Memorial Day celebration on Sunday as we knew rain was predicted for Monday...and sure enough...it rained all day.

  • SPONTANEOUS DAY TRIP:  Yesterday, my childhood friend C who still lives out in our childhood hometown, and I decided to meet at a town park that I had never been to and that C had just discovered a few years ago.  How did we grow up in the Mohawk Valley of NYS and not know about this gem of a place??! We explored every  nook and cranny and had a  wonderful time. I'm so thankful we decided on this road trip. It's only about 55 minutes from my home and about 25 from hers. The water level in the stream was low but the falls were all beautiful! We hiked a total of 2.1 miles and spent a lot of time at the Boiling Pot in a separate section of the park. I'm so thankful we decided to explore this beautiful gem.

That wraps up my week....other blessings were 3 pain free days; lots of amazing sunshine and temps in the low 70s (my favorite!!), blue skies, baby bunny playing in the backyard, and a long chat with my neighbor-friend Melissa while eating my slow cooker peach cobbler.

What were some blessings from your week??

I'm sure you will be glad to have your hubby home on Sunday! It's also good that you were able to speak to the two hospice nurses.

You always find the pretties places to walk and hike! I always enjoy seeing the photos. We have beautiful places here in the Smokies, but most are at least 1 1/2 to 2 hours away. And it's always lovely to share a new place with a friend.

Our Memorial Day weekend was a wash out too. Sunday and Monday morning, we had rain. I didn't do anything but at least those who planned cookouts were able to do them Monday afternoon and evening. Your get-together with your daughter sounds lovely.

So glad to hear that you're having pain-free days and for the bunnies in the back yard! Have a great weekend.

Glad you had safe travels though traffic sounds crazy. Praying Dave also has safe travels on his way home. Love all your pictures of your walks and hikes. Such a lovely area. Your flowers are lovely! My peony bush which I transplanted from my Mom's house when we sold it finally has buds on it. 6 of them. Here's hoping they all bloom out! Love the quote at the end!

I'm glad you were able to help your husband and his parents over the weekend and had a safe trip back. I hope he can come home soon as well. Your flowers are so pretty! I hope to have peonies some day! I looked when we bought our flowers, and they just had big tubs of them for $50--way too much. I bought what I thought were peony seeds one year, but when I opened them, it was just a stick and dirt, I planted it all, but nothing came up.

Glad you got to bike and walk over the weekend and have a good time with Courtney on Monday and your friend later in the week.

We had sunshine and nice temperatures this week, but we're due for rain much of next week.

It is important when we can help family out, especially when they are our parents. Mine are gone now and I am glad I could be there for them as they were for me. Nice that you could meet up with your friend and enjoy nature together. I miss bike riding because of my osteoporosis. I need to do more walking outside more. Enjoy your weekend!

The park is amazingly beautiful. What a peaceful place to walk and hike. I love walking our neighborhood, too.
Thankful for safe travels, especially in the rain. It was good for you to be there to give encouragement and help.
I so love peonies! Mine are bloomed out now.
BONFIRES are the BEST!

Re: the wedding. Surrogate grandson. He and his parents and brother followed us here two years ago from SoCal. They are truly settling in to Ohio.

Glad you had safe travels to and from MA. Driving in heavy rain is no fun. Your roses are gorgeous! I love roses, but their heavy scent is a bit too much for me to enjoy indoors. And those daisies! The happiest flower in my opinion. Your Memorial Day dinner with your daughter sounds delicious. I love peach iced tea! I seem to have a difficult time finding it. Do you have a favorite brand?
