Friday means time to look back on the last week and share FIVE of my FAVE blessings. There's always some kind of a blessing in each day, and several of us like to link up at Susanne's site to share our top ones. Those things which made us smile, or say Thank You, God.

- BEACH DAY: My younger sister Hope is turning 60 in a couple of weeks, and I had a birthday gift to bring her. We decided to meet at our childhood summer home beach for the day last Friday. The beach is right outside the village and it's where our mom swam when she was growing up in the village in the late 30s and 40s and where me and my younger sisters spent time every summer when we were up at our camp on the other side of the village. There were only a handful of people there that day, even though the temp was perfect for swimming (81 F). We swam a couple times, spent time eating and talking and catching up. I'm thankful that Hope liked her gifts and that we had the day together.
- LOVE NOTE: Dave left me a note on the kitchen counter on Tuesday morning that I saw when I got up. It's been a long time since he surprised me with a love note on a little post-it. He left it there before he left for work, when I was still asleep. I'm so thankful for this kind of little gesture and a very loving husband.
- GIFT: We had our friends Darlene and Bob over for dinner and fellowship last Saturday evening and Dar brought me this little orchid plant as a hostess gift. It was so thoughtful of her and it goes perfectly in my living room with the pale yellow walls. It truly made me smile!

- KAYAKING! Claire called me earlier in the week and asked if we could kayak together on her day off? Nornally she has Tues/Thurs off from her job as an optemetric tech but this week she had to fill in for someone on Tuesday so they gave her Wed off. Wed was a cool 64 F but we loved it. The lake water was actually warm so I dipped in after kayaking. Sadly, the kayaking made my neck and head pain return and it lingered into Thursday. But spending time on the water with Claire was wonderful. As you can see by the pics, hardly anyone was on the beach. There was one young family and an older couple and that was it! There were about 5 people in kayaks. I'm thankful we have our boats stored here until November and I'm thankful Claire and I had a great day.

- DAY UP NORTH: My very good friend from my teen years (she's 3 yrs older), Debbie is up visitng her family in central NY from Tennessee and because this is an annual thing for her, she always saves a day to spend with me. She's also into hiking, so we decided to do a short hike at this place and then we went out to lunch at this place. I LOVE their food and drinks. I had a curried chicken sandwich on Ciabatta roll and peach iced tea and she had a BLT with raspberry iced tea. The drinks have real fruit in them. Then we drove south a bit to Northville (where I was last Friday to swim with my sister) and we shopped in a fave antique barn there. There are 4 barns/sheds full of antiques and I was able to pick up a couple things for my sister Jill's birthday which is in the middle of September. After shopping, we continued south and stopped in to my fave soft serve ice cream place and enjoyed yummy ice cream. Mine was Mounds (Chocolate coconut) and hers was Black Raspberry. This place offers 61 flavors of soft serve and all are made on the premises. It's delicious. I'm so thankful we had the day together in one of my fave areas of the Adirondack Mountains.
Have a wonderful weekend!!

I've never been kayaking but I understand it's very enjoyable. Your photos sure look peaceful.
Your love note mention brought back so many memories. My late husband would often make my lunch for me when I was working. He'd stick a short love note in it very often. Really treasured memories. I'm glad your husband did that for you.
How nice to have a day with Claire and to be able to meet up with your friend from TN. My BFF in Florida and I talk every week and we try to get together at least once a year.
Have a great weekend.
I've never seen a yellow orchid. How beautiful!
I've been longing for time at the beach, which won't happen anytime soon. Even a really big lake would do, but bodies of water aren't as common here as they are where you are. The kayaking looks like lots of fun!
As always, your times at the lake and out hiking are wonderful. The pictures make me want to grab my shoes and run out the door. There hasn't been much outside walking while we are driving, so I really miss it.
I love that you see your friend every year!
Have a great week!
My husband just got a couple of kayaks on sale this week. The ones he had were inflatable, which he doesn't mind, but the seats were situated for the rower to lean back, which he found unconformable. He took one of the new ones out yesterday and loved it. I don't kayak myself, but the guys all love to.
How fun to get a love note from your husband. I don't think I have ever seen a yellow orchid before. What a thoughtful gift from your friends.
Glad you had some good outings with your daughter, sister, and friend.
The orchid is lovely. What a special thing to wake up to from your hubby! Your day with Claire sounds lovely. How fun that your friend always saves a day to do a meet up with you. Nice to spend a beach day with your sis.
