Sunday Stealin' Meme

Participating in the Sunday Stealin' Meme as I sit outdoors burning brush.
It's a glorious Sunday here in eastern New York

What’s the best birthday party you’ve ever had?

I've never had a birthday party, other than just my immediate family celebrating my birthday. My parents couldn't afford it and it was too close to Christmas, along with my sister Joy's which was a week later. But I hosted my own sleepover birthday party when I turned 12 and I remember having a lot of fun with 5 of my closest friends. BUT the best birthday celebration I've ever had was when Dave surprised me with plane tickets to Paris for the 4 of us the year I turned 50 and we celebrated our 20th anniversary. The girls were 16 and 11 and it was awesome.

Where is your favorite place you’ve ever visited?

Besides Paris, France and the Adirondack Mountains (Which I don't count as we live so very close), it's a toss up between Italy and  the Amish Country in Lancaster PA.

How do you like to spend your free time?

Take a guess. just look at my side bar. hahah. But seriously: yes. Hiking and reading books with a good cup of coffee or a fine glass of wine.

What’s one of your favorite bands?

That's hard because as a former music major (undergrad degree) I like all types of music. If I have to pick just one it would be The 2nd Chapter of Acts from the 1970s/1980s and currently it would have to be Rend Collective

What is the cutest animal you’ve ever seen in person?

Hm....probably a miniature horse I saw on the side of a country road in Vermont once.

How would you describe your style?

Trendy with classic pieces/country casual style (Think Skinny or wide legged jeans; tee shirt or white oxford shirt with flannel shirt or classic v neck sweater; riding boots or scrunched down boot socks and booties or Toms loafers. As for my house style: country casual with Shaker furniture.

If your wardrobe could only be one color, what would it be?

Shades of blue

What was the first concert you ever went to?

These questions kill me. What kind of concert?? Classical? Rock? Christian pop? I mean seriously.  First real concert was the Utica Symphony when I was in 8th grade. Loved it. First Christian pop concert was Andre Crouch in Rochester NY my freshman year of college followed by 2nd Chapter of Acts at Houghton College in western NY.

What is the best book you’ve ever read?

Super hard to  choose just one. I'm a book nerd so again...what genre?? All around all fave would be Les Miserables followed by The Book Thief, The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, Where the Crawdads Sing, The Color Purple, I Know why the Caged Bird Sings.  You get the idea.

What’s your favorite movie of all time?

Again. What genre????  Casablanca. Les Miserables. Citizen Kane. The Color Purple.  Absolute fave? Dead Poet's Society followed by Schindler's List.

What’s the stupidest movie or TV show you’ve ever seen?

Thankfully I only saw one episode and that was more than enough: The Simpsons plus ANY reality show.

If you could only have one food for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

Ok this question is kind of stupid because we need Protein, some healthy carbs, some fats and of course fruits and veggies  daily. So I guess Avocado because at least it's a healthy fat, a "veggie" plus packed full of protein.

What are your biggest pet peeves?

People who call themselves "Christian" but don't really understand the meaning of the word; dishonesty; gossip

Are you more into brains or looks?

Both of course!!  I mean it's important to look your best..I don't believe in being a frumpy woman....but I"m thankful for my smarts and my masters degree and I appreciate my husband and daughters' wicked smart brains and they're all good looking but for my average friend? I prefer their inner beauty and integrity. Looks are quite shallow my friends.

Do you celebrate any holidays? What’s your favorite?

Absolutely!!  My fave is Easter followed by Christmas.

Hi Faith! This was a fun post. I also wear a lot of blue. Your trip to Paris sounds very memorable! Hope you have a great week! See you again soon.

Hi Faith, how cool that you have been to France and Italy. And to live where you do! I love the Easter song from 2nd Chapter of Acts! I remember hearing the song on secular radio because I don't think there were Christian songs. Plus I visited the Calvary Chapel in the next town that played a big part in the Jesus movement. Easter and Christmas are my favorite too.

The Adirondacks ARE lovely and a natural treasure.
I think it may be weird that I like Lenten songs more than Easter songs.
