Mid-Week HodgePodge

These are some fun questions for this week's Hodgepodge.  Head over to this blog to learn more.

1.  What's one task you'd like a little Christmas elf to sneak in and take care of tonite?

mopping all of my floors, and dusting all of the baseboards

2. What's your biggest challenge during the holidays?

eating healthily and not over-imbibing on sweets

3. Are you a cookie baker this time of year? If your year had to be summed up in the shape of a cookie cutter what shape would it be?

Yes, I bake cookies this time of year but I've cut way back now that our daughters have their own apartments. So far, in the freezer, waiting for Christmas Eve, are Christmas Cranberry Cookies; Chocolate Orange Fudge, and Ginger "Snow" Snaps.

My cookie cutter shape to sum up my year would be a foot:  because I did a lot of walking and hiking this past year! (or a hiking boot shape and my Women's walking group and my Hiking groups fall under the name SoulSteps). :)

4. Santa likes milk with his cookies. Do you like milk? What kind of milk is on tap in your house? (whole, 2%, skim, almond, oat, etc). What's the last thing you made that called for milk?

I'm not a milk drinker and never have been except as a very small child. I did drink skim milk when I was pregnant with both girls. Around 25 years ago, we switched to unsweetened almond milk.  I only use it on cereal or to bake/cook with.  My daughters drink or use oat milk.

The last thing I made that called for milk was fudge..it called for sweetened condensed milk.  Only time i have that in the house is to make my famous fudge.

5. Share one favorite line from a Christmas carol or holiday tune?

I have two...hey...I was a music (undergrad)major!

from the old (1984) Christmas song "Mary, Did you Know?"

"....And when you kiss your little baby
You've kissed the face of God
Mary, did you know?"

and from Joy, to the World

"He rules the world in Truth and Grace...."

6. Insert your own random thought here.

from my morning Advent devotional time:

The words to the old hymns are so powerful. I still love them. I haven't done a lot of baking yet, but hope to get to it this weekend. My girls both bake and we'll be with our youngest this year so I won't do as much as I normally do. I have a recipe for a ginger almond cookie I want to try this year that someone made in November and I loved. Enjoy your day!

Hi Faith. Fun post. I really lot those Christmas hymns too. I don't bake much, but may make some cookies when Josh comes home. I hope you have a great day. See you again soon!

I like your new background too! Nothing better than the old Christmas hymns. The songs share the good news over and over. I think a Christmas sneaker with lights on it would be cute!
