Our host is featuring the song "Something New" from 2017. I had never heard of it but you can hear it here. I actually enjoyed it.
1. We're beginning the year with a song about new beginnings. What is something new you'd like to try in 2025?
I'm hoping to try Hot Air Balloon rides. My sister-in-law and I plan on being brave when we're in Albuquerque and wanna check this off our bucket list. We both have wanted to do this for years. Since this seems to be a local to Albuquerque tourist attraction, we 're gonna go!
2) The lyrics recall what was said "in the mist of the midnight hour." Where were you when the new year dawned?
Dave and I were snug as bugs in our bed. He was fighting a head cold and I was just plain ole tired from cleaning house, hosting a big party, and running all kinds of errands leading up to night time. Also, we much prefer the festivities of First Night in Boston vs the ball drop in NYC and since we couldn't go to Boston this year....we opted to turn in earlier than midnight.
3) The Axwell of Axwell and Ingrosso is Axel Hedfors. He began as a drummer and moved on to experimenting musically on the computer, eventually mastering music sequencer software. Do you consider yourself more a technophile like Axwell, who loves technology and digital devices, or more a technophobe, anxious about learning new programs?
I'm somewhere in between. I'm married to a software engineer so....
there are perks to that, people! I love my Apple Macbook Pro, my Apple iphone 14 and I loved having an ipod and ipad although both are obsolete now and I didn't bother replacing them since the phone and the laptop does everything! I also love my Fitbit! I'm only anxious about learning new programs if Dave, or neither of my daughters (I have a young millennial and a Gen Z) can help me.
4) His musical partner is Sebastian Ingrosso. Sebastian became interested in dance music when he accompanied his father, a choreographer, to the studio. When you were young, did you ever go to work with either of your parents?
um....no...I was in school. hahah But when I was a college freshman, my dad got me a summer job at Remington Arms and I rode in with him every morning. My hours were 7-3 like Dad. I was with 4 other college kids on a "cleaning crew". Easiest summer job I ever had. Dad was a tool and dye maker there for years. And yes, he owned Remington guns. My husband and I are against owning guns. The next year, I also had a summer job there but my hours were 8-4 so I took my mom's car. I did pop in to my mom's office (she was a secretary for an insurance company) during my junior high and high school days sometimes.
5) Axwell & Ingrosso gave their premiere performance at the 2014 Governors Ball Music Festival in New York City and their last concert at the 2017 Ultra Music Fest in Miami. Looking back on 2024, did you attend any outdoor music or theater performances?
We live only 25 minutes south of SPAC. Of course we attended concerts. My oldest daughter and I attended the Philadelphia Orchestra Concert in August and my youngest daughter and I attended the NYCBallet in July. If you are unfamiliar with what SPAC is, click here. I haven't been to an outdoor theater production though since the girls were very young.
6) In 2017, when "Something New" was released, we lost the TV star who could "turn the world on with her smile." Without looking it up, do you know who that is?
I'm not sure but I'm guessing Mary Tyler Moore?? Wasn't that like part of her theme song? I don't have time to google it. hahah
7) Also in 2017, Today Show anchor Hoda Kotb announced she had adopted her first child. Do you know anyone who is adding to their family in 2025?
I know that one of the singers on our church worship team is pregnant and due sometime this winter. That's all I know.
8) Have you made any New Year's resolutions for 2025?
I don't make resolutions but I do set some specific goals. THere's an entire post regarding this...just go to the Home Page and scroll down if you're interested. It's combined with my "Word for the Year" Oh wait...I did resolve to NOT drink anything with alcohol in it until Valentine's Day. So far I'm succeeding. (to cut down on added calories and sugar).
9) What was the first thing to make you laugh in 2025?
I honesty can't remember but I think it was when my husband showed me a comic that morning that he was reading on his phone. If it wasn't that, then it was my friend Cheryl's coffee meme she sent me that day.
HAPPY SATURDAY, EVERYONE!

Yes, it was Mary Tyler Moore.
I went to SUNY Albany, we used to go to a dance club in Saratoga. Place called The Rafters. Good times.
Wishing you a beautiful day, smiles.
I had no idea that an iPad is considered obsolete now.
Mine is from like 2010 so yeah mine is. hahah
First Night! They did that here (not sure if it is the same), but had an event called First Night. I had forgotten. They did it a couple of years here and then stopped. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.
