I liked this week's HodgePodge questions so am playing along today. there's one question that I have NO idea what the creator means.
1. March 15th is known as The Ides of March, the date on which Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 B.C....have you ever been to Rome? If so what did you love most about the city? If not, is this a place you'd like to visit?
My husband, youngest daughter (Claire aka the ballerina) and I went to Rome the end of June-through the first full week of July to celebrate her high school graduation in 2017. She chose Rome vs a huge backyard party like we did for our oldest daughter. Oldest girl was by then out of college for 2 yrs so had a full time job and couldn't join us. Claire had to give my husband 3 good reasons for the trip to Rome. She said "the history, the architecture, the culture/food/wine." What we loved is that everything "touristy" is pretty much within walking distance. What we did not like is that it is an extremely dirty city. The Italians would just leave their empty wine and beer bottles anywhere. It was also so very hot and dusty. There's like no green anywhere other than a little bit in the Villa Borghese which we explored for most of a day although you really need 2 days there. What we also loved was the pomp and circumstance of all the cathedrals and the Vatican. We were just in love with the Sistine Chapel and it brought tears to me and Claire's eyes. We loved that you must be silent in there and that you cannot take pics of Michelangelo's work. It is truly astonishing to see. We also loved that they had several amazing vegan restaurants because Claire had done her research and I think we tried them all since she is pure vegan. And the wine!! Their cheap wine is better than our expensive wine!

2. 'Rome wasn't built in a day.' What project/activity/improvement (of any kind) do you have going on right now to which this saying might be applied?
The scraping of old paint off our deck and then me my self and I repainting it hopefully sometimes before May 1st. This project began last July. I'm doing it my self and of course living in the Northeast this project has been halted from November-just yesterday!
3. Let's do a little this or that with some Italian foods...
- Caprese salad or Prosciutto with melon? Caprese definitely.
- Bruschetta or Antipasto? Bruschetta for me, antipasto for Dave
- lasagne or ravioli? roasted veggie stuffed ravioli
- bolognese or Carbonara? neither because I don't eat beef or pork.
- Risotto or gnocchi? I love both!! I make a great pesto gnocchi and in Italy there was an amazing squash risotto.
- tiramisu~gelato~cannoli? I cannot stand cannoli. My husband LOVES tiramisu and I'm all about Limoncello gelato or chocolate gelato. We had both in Rome and omgosh was it amazing. We also had amazing wine and pasta in Florence!
4. Of the colors red, white, and green which would I find most prevalent in your home? Which one do you think is most flattering to you in terms of your wardrobe? Have you ever had your colors done? Is that something you'd be interested in doing?
I have no idea what you mean by "Having my colors done"???????? is this a southern thing??? hahah
There is mainly green in my home as accent colors (tossed pillows; plants)
Our full bath is white ceramic tile floor and walls.
Our half bath is sage green paint with white vinyl flooring.
My countertops are white and half my appliances are white on white other than my boring stainless steel fridge and microwave.
In terms of my wardrobe: I have a lot of various shades of green. I have a couple of red items (sweaters, dressy sleeveless red tunic, a red long sleeved dress and some of my autumn hiking wear is red. I have a thing for pure white oxford shirts like from J Crew or Gap and I LOVE classic white tees for wearing with khakis or denim jeans or shorts.
5. Life would be boring without____________________? without all the diverse people God created.
6. Insert your own random thought here:
I am so happy our snow is gone from most of eastern NY!! I'm also glad we had temps in the 60s yesterday!!

LOLOL... "Having my colors done"???????? is this a southern thing??? ---thanks, needed that...no, it's not a southern thing. My grandmother worked for Marshall Fields in Chicago and that is where I first got it done. ANYWAYS, glad to see you are in a warming trend. Have a beautiful day.
so what is having your colors done???? is it like taking a test to see which color looks best on your hair??
Hi, I enjoyed your memories of Rome and the photos.
Carla
I enjoyed your pictures of Rome! All this talk of food is making me hungry. I do enjoy my red meats but have to cut back. I don't drink often, but I did try some wine on the cruise. I chose the most expensive wine and hubby got the Limoncello, It was included in our package. I wrote about it at my blog under Cruise section.
Lovely pictures from Rome. Having your colours done is all about working out what colours suit you best including your makeup and the clothes you wear.
thank you! i take a class on Wednesday mornings and had no time to google this info! i've never heard of that and never have known anyone to do that! ya learn something new every day, right??!!
